JANICE KANE-BULMANN, 56, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

ALICE KRUSZKA, 82, of Manistee, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at The Herbert Funeral Home, PC in Manistee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee.
ALVINA C. MALLISON, 95, of Bear Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Manistee County Medical Care Facility. A retired school teacher, she was born July 31, 1905, in Pleasanton Township.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at Edwards Funeral Home in Bear Lake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasanton Township Cemetery.
C. HARLAN NIESEN, 80, of Manistee, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. He was born July 15, 1920, in Manistee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Manistee. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Funeral Home, PC in Manistee.
WILLIAM LAURANCE SHAFFNER, JR., 84, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Patricia 'Patsy' Elaine Allen
Died July 28, 2000
TRAVERSE CITY - Patricia "Patsy" Elaine Allen, 74, of Traverse City, died Friday, July 28, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born March 28, 1926, in Cadillac, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Crandell) Frazee. On Aug. 4, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she married Elmer Allen, who survives.
A lifelong resident of Traverse City, Patsy was a member of First Congregational Church. She also enjoyed square dancing and bowling.
She is also survived by two daughters, Teri (Lanney) Passmore of Durand and Mary (James) Bradford of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, James Allen of Traverse City; former daughter-in-law, Dianne Allen of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Edwin (Joanne) O'Connor of Norfolk, Va., Laurie Howard of Interlochen, Gary (Jenny) O'Connor of Traverse City, Randy (Tracey) O'Connor of Traverse City, Shannon (Shawn) Lichty of Traverse City and Tricia Allen of Traverse City; and nine great-grandchildren, Dawn and Nancy O'Connor of Norfolk, Va., Bryan and Danna Howard of Atlanta, Mich., and Misty Mackey, Amanda, Chloe and Emma Lichty and Ben O'Connor - all of Traverse City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the time of service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mildred M. Hoffman
Died August 4, 2000
TRAVERSE CITY - Mildred M. Hoffman, 71, of Traverse City, died Friday at Bortz Health Care of Traverse City.
Born May 3, 1929, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Vern and Helen (Bergin) Austin. On April 17, 1968, in Detroit, she married James E. Hoffman.
Mildred had made her home in Novi prior to moving to Traverse City three years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, where she also was employed as the religious education secretary prior to her retirement.
Survivors include three daughters, Joann (Dan) Wendels of Traverse City, Karen (Barry) Casler of Lansing and Colleen (Kelly) Kroupa of Cedar; seven grandchildren; and her brothers and sister, Ralph Austin of Garden City, Margaret (William) Albrecht of Dearborn and Robert (Nancy) Austin of West Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Humphrey in 1964 and by her second husband, James, in 1999.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 770 Thayer Blvd., Northville with the Rev. Father Ernest Porcari serving as celebrant. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Linwood Cemetery in Long Lake Township, Traverse City.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Willie Lynn Phillips
Died August 1, 2000
KINGSLEY - Willie Lynn Phillips, 47, of Kingsley, died Tuesday.
Born June 27, 1953, in Lansing, he was the son of William E. and Pauline (Godfrey) Phillips.
A resident of the area for most of his life, Willie enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was an accomplished guitar player.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie of Kingsley; three children, Sandra (Mathew) Hosler of Kingsley, Rebecca (Terry) Loveland of Interlochen, and Christina (Ben) Bearden of Kingsley; eight brothers and sisters, Ralph (Linda) Phillips of Ohio, Phyllis (Gardner) Bittle of Arkansas, Patricia (Keith) Wooster of Interlochen, Delores Jackomino of West Virginia, Kay (Rodney) Wilber of Eaton Rapids, Rosalie (Bob) Coryell of Lansing, Gloria (Kenneth) Profitt of Arizona, and Pauline (Thomas) Heniser of East Lansing; and three granddaughters, Elsie, Vivian, and Lillian Hosler.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday; Pastor Bruce Sheets will officiate.

Keith R. Playter
Died August 2, 2000
KINGSLEY - Keith R. Playter, 62, of Kingsley, died Wednesday.
Born May 5, 1938, he was the son of Kyler Steven and Doris Fay (Zimmerman) Playter. On Sept. 28, 1985, in Traverse City, he married the former Martha Bohaboy.
Keith was employed as a sales person and formerly a truck driver for Kirchman Brothers. He was a member of the Northwest Michigan Engine and Thresher Club, Inc. and he enjoyed woodworking, singing and playing the organ.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Kingsley; six children, Anthony Erickson of Kingsley, Katherine Ann (David) Lyon of Kewadin, Jacklyn (Gary) Taft of Iowa, Penny Marie (Robert) Graham of Grawn, Larry Erickson, Jr. of Kingsley and Charmain (Glen) Botma of Grant; 20 grandchildren; and one brother, Donald (Kathy) Playter of Ludington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren, Paul and Terri Erickson.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. John Evans officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley.

Carolyn Kate Prince
Died August 3, 2000
SUTTONS BAY - Carolyn Kate Prince, 8, of Suttons Bay, went to be with Jesus, Thursday, Aug. 3.
Although she was with us for only a short time, she will be remembered for her sweet smile and letting her light shine for Jesus.
Surviving are her parents, Rev. Donald and Cindy Prince; brothers and sister, Daniel, David, Kristin and Dwight; grandparents, Don and Becky Prince, Jarvis and Kathryn Overbeek and Marlene VanHouten. She is also survived by her great-grandparents, Jennie Prince and Elizabeth Mosley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alan and Carolyn VanHouten.
Relatives and friends may meet the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Matthysse & Kuiper Funeral Home, 6850 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Lakeshore Baptist Church, 13664 Lakeshore Drive, Grand Haven. Interment will be in Allendale Cemetery.
