ALICE L. HOAG, 95, of Traverse City, died Tuesday Aug. 15, 2000, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date for friends and family. The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      EMIL F. JOHNSON, 100, of Manistee, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Onekama. He was born July 1, 1900, in Manistee.
      Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Manistee.
     
      BARBARA E. PETTIBONE, 72, of Elk Rapids, formerly of Howell, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at her home.
      The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at MacDonald Funeral Home in Howell. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, also in Howell. Local arrangements are being handled by Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      ELIZABETH EILEEN SWARTOUT, 54, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000.
      Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for Friday morning. A complete obituary will be in Friday's Record-Eagle.
     
      Carl W. Hayes
      Died August 15, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Carl W. Hayes, 78, of Traverse City, died Tuesday.
      Born Aug. 20, 1921, he was the son of W.D. and Florence D. (Arnold) Hayes in Howe, Ind. On Oct. 13, 1946, he married Shirley Sanborn in Traverse City.
      Carl served during World War II with the 8th Air Force in Europe. He was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He retired from Traverse City Iron Works after 32 years. Carl was a loving, gentle caregiver to his wife, Shirley, for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading and was a good husband, father and grandpa.
      Besides his wife, Carl is survived by his five children, Geoffrey (Pam) Hayes of Grand Rapids, Mark (Cathy Vandenberg) Hayes of State College, Pa., Pat (Dan) Wozniak of Libertyville, Ill., Philip (Linda) Hayes of Buffalo, Ohio and Anne Hayes of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters, Allyson, Rachel, Jessica, Erin, Lisa and Elizabeth; grandsons, Jamie, Andy and Ben; and a sister, Ruth Bush of Sebawaing.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
      Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Traverse City with Rev. David Minger, Rev. Geoffrey Hayes and Rev. Mark Hayes officiating, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of service.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Habitat for Humanity.
     
      Cecil A. Reece
      Died August 15, 2000
      WILLIAMSBURG - Cecil A. Reece, 86, of Williamsburg, died Tuesday.
      Born April 12, 1914, in Traverse City, he was the son of Bines and Emma (Forrest) Reece. On April 18, 1936, in Cadillac, he married the former Charlotte A. Gray.
      Cecil served in the U.S. Navy. He lived in the Traverse City area all of his life. He retired from Milliken's in 1971 after 38 years. Cecil was a member of Kiwanis and a former member of the Acme Fire Department and the school board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with his hands.
      He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Williamsburg; a son, Jerry A. Reece of San Diego, Calif., a daughter, Carol Jean Bowski of Traverse City; a special friend, Francis L. Warren; two grandchildren; three nephews, Norman and Robert Reece and Larry Lardie - all of Traverse City; a niece, Cindy Hood of Kingsley; and one sister-in-law.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jessie and Kenneth Reece.
      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with Rev. Paul Pletcher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorials may be directed to Parkinson's.
