BERNARD KIRGIS, 70, of Manton died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at his residence. He was born September 22, 1930, in Maple Rapids.
      Funeral services will take place today at 2 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      WYNNEFRED "WYNNE" V. OLSEN, 83, of Arcadia, died early Sunday, December 3, 2000, at The Maples Medical Care Facility in Frankfort.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Edwards Funeral Home in Bear Lake.
     
      Virginia S. Georgeoff Cook
      Died December 1, 2000
      EASTPORT - Virginia S. Georgeoff Cook, 77, of Eastport, died Friday at home following a courageous six month battle with cancer.
      Born April 26, 1923, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Sava and Tereska (Krstopacin) Putin. On May 27, 1977, in Rochester, she married Walter W. Cook.
      Virginia was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids. A homemaker, she was also an excellent golfer and enjoyed playing often.
      She is survived by her husband, Walter W. Cook, of Eastport; a son, Joseph (Cheryl) Georgeoff of Grand Blanc; a sister, Lillian Witek, of Fife Lake; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony and Alyssa Georgeoff - all of Grand Blanc.
      Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband, Nicholas Georgeoff; her parents; a daughter, Judy Georgeoff; and one granddaughter, Christina Georgeoff.
      Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids, where there will be an evening prayer at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert J. Zuchowski serving as celebrant. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy.
      In remembrance of Virginia, memorials may be made to Mass intentions, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, or Munson Hospice.
      The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City.
      Robert R. Odom
      Died December 2, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY-Robert R. Odom, formerly of Lincoln Park, died Saturday at his home in Elmwood Township.
      Bob was born March 30, 1939 in Detroit to Raymond and Helen (Ziemba) Odom.
      Bob worked as a wildlife biologist with the Department of Natural Resources. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Central Michigan University in 1964. He worked for the state of Alaska from 1964-65, and in 1965 began working for the Michigan DNR. Bob was a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society and the Whitetail Association. He was also and avid hockey player, and played on the adult league in Traverse City for many years. He especially enjoyed the family cabin on Drummond Island and was "always wishin' to go hunting and fishin'".
      Bob is survived by his wife, Judith L. (Albrecht) Odom; two sons, Scott G. Odom of Kingsley and Brad R. (Alyssa) Odom of Tucson, Az.; his grandson Zachery Odom; his beloved dog, Peewee; his mother, Helen Odom of Lincoln Park; his sister Dorothy (Robert) Jones of Alpena; his brother Ronald (Laura) Odom of Alpha, Ky.; one niece and several nephews.
      Bob was preceded in death by his father, Raymond.
      A celebration of Bob's life and a time to share will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a fund to be placed in trust for the college education of grandson Zachery Odom.

      David Lloyd Potter
      Died December 2, 2000
      BRETHREN-David Lloyd Potter, 64, of Brethren, died Saturday at his residence.
      He was born March 25, 1936, in Manistee, the son of Lloyd and Ina (Leckrone) Potter. On April 20, 1963, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac, David married Nancy Louise Domres, who preceded him in death in 1999.
      David had served in the U.S. Army. He had been a truck driver for many local companies; had owned and operated Dave's Body Shop in Mesick for 28 years; and most recently had worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Domres Construction.
      David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a wonderful conversationalist, he made friends wherever he went. He loved to travel, camp, and most of all, to spend time with his family.
      David was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama; he was a charter member and helped build Faith Lutheran Church in Mesick.
      David is survived by his son, David (Tricia) Potter of Brethren; his daughter, Denise (Steve) Cooley of Mesick; six grandchildren, Allison Yahner, Sara Jo Yahner, Kristen Potter, Joshua Potter, James Leach and Danielle Leach; and his sister Darlene Ressler of Cadillac.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama, with Rev. Paul Pollatz officiating. Internment will be in Brethren Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Time/Lutheran Hour. Envelopes are available at the Terwilliger Funeral Home.
     
      Alvin E. Simonson, Sr.
      Died November 30, 2000
      BRIGHTON-Alvin E. Simonson, Sr., 62, passed away suddenly Nov. 30, 2000, in Baltimore, Md.
      Alvin was born on March 11, 1938 in Holly, the son of the late Thomas and Hazel Simonson. On October 12, 1968, he married his beloved wife of 32 years, Judy Ann (Taulbee) Simonson, who survives.
      Alvin was still working as a self-employed truck driver. He was a 1957 graduate of Pickney High School, where he was captain of the football and basketball teams. He also served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded two silver stars.
      In addition to his wife, Alvin is survived by his children Alvin, Jr. (Tanya), and Christina Simonson, both of Brighton; his grandson Brendan; his siblings Mary Krahn of Fla.; Shirley Rogers of Ga.; Earl of Central Lake; Leonard of Howell; Barry of Central Lake; and Linda Meade of Grand Rapids.
      Alvin was preceded in death by his twin brother, Calvin.
      Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral Celebration will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bell-Borek Funeral Home, Lamb Chapel, 312 S. Michigan, Howell. Burial with military honors will follow at Pickney Cemetary.
