      Douglas Mitchell 'Mitch' Skea
      Died December 4, 2000
MAPLE CITY - Douglas Mitchell "Mitch" Skea, 45, of Maple City, died Monday at Munson Medical Center.
Mitch was born Dec. 15, 1954, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Walter and Melba Skea.
Mitch was a graduate of Fulton High School. After high school he was married to the former Ruth Ann Chick and then moved to Maple City. They had three children together during their marriage of 21 years. Mitch enjoyed many things but nothing was more special to him than to watch his children play sports in school. He was very proud of their academic achievements. When he wasn't watching sports, he was either hunting or fishing. Mitch was employed as a builder by Jim Richardson Contracting and previously worked for Century Telephone since the age of 17.
Mitch is survived by his three children, Carie (Travis) Hansen of Garrison, Iowa, Bill Skea of Maple City and Tyler Skea of Maple City; two grandchildren, Forrest and Austin Peters - both of Iowa; two sisters, Lori (Larry) Johnson of Houston, Texas, Teri (Jim) Usher of Vergas, Minn.; and his parents, Walter and Melba Skea of Detroit Lakes, Minn. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews from all across the United States.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Blanche and "Muggs" Mitchell of Texas and Alta and Harold Skea of Iowa.
Mitch did not leave this world without expressing his feelings. As his request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Glen Lake High School Athletic Department in Maple City.
A casual memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Maple City Cedar Lions Club in Maple City. Friends are welcome to call his sons Bill and Tyler at any time.
The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
