December 9, 2000ObituariesDENNIS P. HUGHES, 66, of Manistee, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at his home in Manistee. Dennis was born Aug. 20, 1934 in Dubuque, Iowa.Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where there will be an evening prayer at 8 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. TRAVERSE CITY - Maybelle L. Round, 81, of Traverse City, joined her beloved husband Bob in heaven on Dec. 7, 2000, and is once again able to stand up straight and is no longer in pain. Maybelle was born Oct. 18, 1919, in St. Johns, the daughter of Charles and Orcelia (Rosier) Dutton. On June 17, 1939, in Traverse City, she married G. Robert Round. A resident of Traverse City since the age of six, Maybelle came here from St. Johns with her family. Maybelle was a homemaker and was very supportive of her husband, Bob, whom with his brother Bill, owned and operated Rounds Circle Inn. She also dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Maybelle was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie J. (William J.) King and Elizabeth M. 'Betty' (Robert A.) Wheeler - both of Traverse City; two grandchildren, Todd King and Melissa King - both of Traverse City; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer King, Nicole Potts and Hailee King; a sister, Esther Whiteford and a brother, Charles Dutton - both of Williamsburg. Maybelle was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernest. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. William Haggard officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the NMC Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund in the names of Robert and Maybelle Round. MANCELONA - Larry Mott, 29, of Mancelona, died Friday, Dec. 1, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. Larry was born on Aug. 23, 1971, in Flint, the son of James and Lila (Putman) Mott. Larry worked as a carpenter and he enjoyed artistic drawing as well as architectural and mechanical drafting. Larry is survived by his parents, James, Sr. and Lila Mott of Mancelona; one brother, James (Karen) Mott, Jr. of Interlochen; three sisters, Robin (Lance) Nichols of Mancelona, Lisa (Prakash) Gurung of Kalkaska and Heather Mott of Kalkaska; four nieces; eight nephews; his ex-wife, Debbie Comstock of Kalkaska; and three stepchildren, Nancy, Ricky and JoAnn Brown - all of Kalkaska. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000. Arrangements were handled by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. of Mancelona. |
