Bush Died December 9, 2000 TRAVERSE CITY-Charles "Charlie" W. Bush, 39, of Traverse City, died Saturday at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Charlie was born July 26, 1961 in Traverse City to Harold and Hellen (Roush) Bush. On May 21, 1988 Charlie married the former Christina "Tina" Maddox in Traverse City. They were married for over 12 years. Charlie was employed by Tower Automotive for many years. He was known as a hard worker who enjoyed joking with his many friends. During his childhood in Traverse City, Charlie played baseball with his father coaching the team. He graduated from Traverse City High School, where he also played on the school baseball team. Charlie loved the outdoors, especially hunting every year with his father, brothers, and many uncles and cousins. Fishing was also a favorite, swapping stories with whoever would listen. His widow remembers, "I will never forget his laugh and the way his eyes would twinkle with mischief." The family will remember getting up early on cold winter days to get ready for the weekly snowmobile races in Cedar. Charlie will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, and son. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his boys grow, and participating in their various activities. Charlie lived his life not to impress anyone, he was just "Charlie". He loved simple, everyday things. Charlie is survived by his wife Christina "Tina" Bush; sons Jason, age 10, and Adam, age 8; parents Harold and Hellen Bush; brothers Craig (Chris) Bush; Greg (Loretta) Bush; his sister Deb (Mike) Rademaker; four nephews and one niece; his paternal grandfather Alfred Bush; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of Traverse City. Charlie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother Wilson and Hazel Roush; paternal grandmother Naioma Bush; a niece Lisa Bush; and a nephew Brandon Bush. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City, with the Rev. Becky A. Chamberlain officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Blair Township Volunteer Fire Department, or to a fund to be placed in trust for a college education for Charlie's sons. The Bush family is appreciative of the many friends who have given their support to the family these last difficult months. |
