December 18, 2000ObituariesEDMUND J. BIZIOREK, JR., 48, of Manton, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at his home.Arrangements are pending by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. KATHRYN M. CRAWFORD, 78, of Rapid City, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services for ANNA M. WOODS, who died on Dec. 15, 2000, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. Arrangements were handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. SPRING LAKE-William "Bill" I. Sharp, 58, of Branch and formerly of Spring Lake, died unexpectedly on Friday. He was born on May 24, 1942, to Robert and Amelia (Nelson) Sharp in Muskegon. Bill married Diane Howe on April 5, 1996, in Muskegon. Bill was a lifelong tri-city area resident until moving to Branch six months ago. Bill was a truck driver for Shell Oil Co. out of the Grand Haven terminal - Schmuckal Oil of Traverse City. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Charles Conklin Post 28 in Grand Haven and the AmVets in Mesick. He was an avid outdoorsman; and he enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Deborah Sterzik of Traverse City; son, Michael W. (Terri) Sharp of Muskegon; stepdaughter, Dawn Simons of Spring Lake; stepson, Jayson Simons of Grand Haven; four grandchildren, William Sterzik, Ashley Lachmann, Francis Sharp and Kailey Sharp. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Donna Howe of Arcadia, Fla.; aunts, Marcella Bowen of Everglade City, Fla. and Jane Reid of Muskegon; and an uncle, James Johnson of North Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Sharp, and his aunt, Beverly Johnson. The funeral service for Mr. Sharp will be held at 11 a.m. today at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake, with Rev. Ben Jansen Jr. officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Assn. or the Audobon Society. TRAVERSE CITY-Stanley Ruis, 64, of Traverse City, died Saturday at his home. He was born on May 6, 1936, in Charlevoix, the son of Henry and Bernice (Nelson) Ruis. On June 17, 1955, he married Roselynn Carpenter in Banks Township. They made their home in Battle Creek. Stan graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1954 and received his Bachelor's degree in finance and business administration from Michigan State University in 1958. He was Corporate Controller and Vice President of Worldwide Operations for Kellogg's in Battle Creek, retiring in 1992 after 30 years. He and his family moved to Traverse City in 1992. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Traverse City, where he served as Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Ellsworth Senior Citizens. Stan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law in Lake Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Roselynn; children Henry Wayne (Beverly Jean) Ruis and their children Sean and Heather of Bridgman, Lynette Ruis of Lansing, Kim (Neal) Bartlett of Battle Creek; his mother, Bernice VanDellen of Traverse City; mother and father-in-law Rose and Lynn Carpenter of Charlevoix; sister and brothers Laraine (Larry) Dawson and Marvin (Kathy) Ruis, both of Beaver Island, and Richard (Helen) Ruis of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Belltower Reformed Church (corner of Essex and Church Roads, Ellsworth), with the Rev. Gary Houge of the First Congregational Church in Traverse City officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Belltower Reformed Church or AC Paws. FRANKFORT-Karolina M. Holtrey, 91, of Frankfort, died Thursday at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. Mrs. Holtrey was born on April 18, 1909, in Milwaukee, Wisc., the daughter of Louie and Karolina Soucek. On August 22, 1932, in Wisc., she married Nelson Holtrey, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1982. Her daughter, Carolyn Holtrey also preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1999. Mrs. Holtrey is survived by her nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Homes, with Father James Bearss officiating. Friends may call at the time of the services. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Twp. Cemetery North in the spring. INTERLOCHEN-Violet Elizabeth Reidlinger, 91, of Interlochen and formerly of Traverse City and Saginaw, died Saturday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Interlochen. Violet was born on October 16, 1909, in Saginaw, to Roderick and Elizabeth (Dick) MacIntosh. On July 19, 1933, she married Engelbert J. Reidlinger in Saginaw, who preceded her in death in 1998. Violet was also preceded in death by her brother and sister. She is survived by her son, James (Nita) Reidlinger of Interlochen; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church with Rev. Becky A. Chamberlain officiating. Friends may call at the church at the time of the service. Following cremation, her cremated remains will be buried in the church prayer garden. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. |
