DOUGLAS D. "JOHN" HARMER, 72, of Frederic and formerly of Burton, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at his home in Frederic. He was born February 17, 1928, in Pontiac. He was a retired General Motors tool and die machinist.
      Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel. Burial will be in the spring at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic.
     
      CAROL LOUISE LARSON, 47, died Monday at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. She was born January 20, 1953, in Adrian, to Edward and Selma (Spreeman) Larson.
      Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Adrian, where a Vigil Prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
      Cremation has taken place. The Memorial Liturgy for Carol Louise will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Helfrich as celebrant. Private burial of cremains will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Fund to Share Art With Children or St. Mary's Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
     
      JUNE A. MARTIN, 73, of Bellaire, died the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Meadowbrook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. She was born on June 27, 1927, in Forest Home Township.
      A time of remembrance will be shared by family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
     
      THOMAS WILLIAM MASSERANG, 67, of Elk Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home.
      Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids. A full obituary will appear in Thursday's edition.
     
      LAWRENCE B. TENBUSCH, 52, of Northport, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. No services will be held.
     
      JOHN HARLEY YOUNG, M.D., 78, of Traverse City, died Tuesday at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. He was born August 16, 1922, in Dayton, Ohio.
      A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Homer Nye officiating.

      Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Lottie L. Steadman, 83, of Traverse City, formerly of Bay City and Harrisville, went home to be with her Lord on Monday.
      She was born Lottie MacNeill on September 23, 1917, in Lincoln, where she was raised. On July 7, 1936, she married Bently Steadman.
      Lottie taught school from 1936 to 1937 in the Mikado-Glennie area. She was a resident of Bay City from 1946 until 1959, then moved to Harrisville, where she lived until 1985, when she moved to Traverse City. Lottie was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and gardener, and also enjoyed fishing and knitting.
      She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Tom) Mead of Traverse City; a son, Gary (Jan Hillary) Steadman of Bay City; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shawn) Steadman, Todd Steadman, Scott Mead and Kristin Mead-Albright; two great-grandchildren, Madison Steadman and Alec Steadman; and two sisters, Enid (Leo) Sautter and Vera (Otto) Klein, both of Harrisville.
      Lottie was preceded in death by her husband, Bently Steadman, on December 10, 1987.
      Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Home in Harrisville.
      Funeral service will be on Thursday at the Harrisville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., Rev. Edward Seward officiating. Entombment will be at Springport Mausoleum.
      SPRING LAKE-William "Bill" I. Sharp, 58, of Branch and formerly of Spring Lake, died unexpectedly on Friday.
      He was born on May 24, 1942, to Robert and Amelia (Nelson) Sharp in Muskegon. Bill married Diane Howe on April 5, 1996, in Muskegon.
      Bill was a lifelong tri-city area resident until moving to Branch six months ago. Bill was a truck driver for Shell Oil Co. out of the Grand Haven terminal ¾ Schmuckal Oil of Traverse City. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Charles Conklin Post 28 in Grand Haven and the AmVets in Mesick. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
      Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Deborah Sterzik of Traverse City; son, Michael W. (Terri) Sharp of Muskegon; stepdaughter, Dawn Simons of Spring Lake; stepson, Jayson Simons of Grand Haven; four grandchildren, William Sterzik, Ashley Lachmann, Francis Sharp and Kailey Sharp. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Donna Howe of Arcadia, Fla.; aunts, Marcella Bowen of Everglade City, Fla., and Jane Reid of Muskegon; and an uncle, James Johnson of North Muskegon.
      He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Sharp, and his aunt, Beverly Johnson.
      The funeral service for Mr. Sharp was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake, with Rev. Ben Jansen Jr. officiating. There was no visitation.
      Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Assn. or the Audobon Society.
      MANTON - Edmund J. Biziorek, Jr., 48, died Sunday at his home in Manton.
      He was born on May 27, 1952, in Grand Rapids, the son of Edmund and Mary Ann (Russ) Biziorek, Sr.
      Edmund was a 1970 graduate of Union High School in Grand Rapids. He pursued a career in chemical engineering; here in Traverse City he owned and operated Merle Norman Cosmetics and Edmunds, Inc. He enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing. "To know Edmund was to love him."
      He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Biziorek of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Dr. Thomas (Toni) Biziorek of Harbor Springs and Steve (Sandy) Biziorek of Grand Rapids; a sister, Dorothy (Mike) Dorney of Waterford; three nephews, Ryan and Travis Biziorek, and Brian Dorney; a niece, Rachael Biziorek; his Queen, Tammy Lynch; his beloved beagle, Isabelle; and his many special friends and clients.
      Edmund was preceded in death by his father, Edmund, Sr., in August of this year.
      Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Edmund's life will be held Sunday, January 7, 2001, at 3 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Friends may call at the time of the celebration.
      In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to either the Cherryland or Wexford County Humane Societies.
      BATTLE CREEK - Dixie A. Strait, 62, of Pennfield Twp. and formerly of Traverse City, died at her home Monday after a year-long illness.
      She was born on January 3, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., to Glen and Anise (Baker) Yetter. On September 5, 1956, in Lake Ann, she married Leroy "Roy" Strait, Sr.
      Dixie graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1956. She was employed as a secretary at Cherry Knoll Elementary School in Traverse City for 20 years. After moving to Battle Creek, she was employed at the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team.
      While living in Traverse City, Dixie was a founding member of the East Bay Township Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the first certified female firefighters in Grand Traverse County. She was a member of the American Businesswomen's Association and was the Businesswoman of the Year for Michigan in 1999. Dixie enjoyed her music, playing the accordion, piano and organ, and she played at several churches and weddings over the years. She also enjoyed auctions sales, playing bingo and especially her grandchildren.
      She is survived by her husband, Leroy "Roy" Strait, Sr.; two sons, Leroy (Butch) Strait, Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Traverse City, and Scott Strait and his wife, Lisa, of Cedarville, Mich.; daughter Connie Jennings and her husband, Jim, of Kalamazoo; seven granddaughters and two grandsons; her father, Glen Yetter of Traverse City; and brother Glen Yetter, Jr. of Traverse City.
      Dixie was preceded in death by her mother, Anise Yetter in 1983.
      Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, where family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
      Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Glen Walters officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley.
      Memorials may be directed to the Oceana Co. Sheriff's Kids Fund.
      FIFE LAKE - Bradley W. Weinberg, 77, of Fife Lake, passed away suddenly on Monday at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
      Bradley was born in Ishpeming on December 24, 1922, to Leslie and Lottie (Knotwell) Weinberg. On May 23, 1953, in Dearborn, he married Helen B. Dec.
      Bradley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a mailer for the Detroit News from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. Upon retirement, he moved to Kalkaska County with his wife, Helen, and retriever, Bingo. He was a member of the Kalkaska Moose Lodge No. 2348, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
      Surviving are his wife, Helen; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin and Lane Weinberg.
      A gathering of family and friends will begin at noon Thursday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ted Turanski officiating. Internment will be at the Garfield Township Cemetery in the spring.
      Memorial gifts may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
