      HAROLD M. BIEHL, 81, of Bellaire, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz. He was born July 8, 1918.
      The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bellaire Community United Methodist Church.
     
      LILLIAN L. (SAMS) GARCIA, 51, of Grand Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Grand Rapids.
      Arrangements will be announced by Covell Funeral Homes in the Tuesday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
     
      JANET LOUISE KLANN, 54, of East Jordan, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at her daughter's home in East Jordan.
      A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in East Jordan. The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
     
      WILLIS J. LEE, 80, of Mancelona, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born Sept. 28, 1919.
      The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
     
      CHARLES A. ROBERTSON, 63, of Lakes of the North, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.
      The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in Mancelona; a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
     
      HELEN M. WYATT, 75, of Trufant, formerly of Traverse City, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Greenville United Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
      A full obituary will appear in a later Record-Eagle. Arrangements are pending at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      Heidi A. Durand
      Died January 30, 2000
      HOWELL - Heidi A. Durand, 44, of Howell, died Sunday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.
      Born May 15, 1955, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Richard and Joanne (Franson) Brown. On June 16, 1979, in Farmington, she married Thomas A. Durand.
      A resident of Howell for the past eight years, Heidi was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had been employed at Mc Pherson Hospital. She was a member of Arbour Meadows Community Church.
      Survivors include her husband, Tom; two sons, Andrew and Daniel; and three daughters, Audrey, Hannah, and Abigail - all at home. She is also survived by her parents, Richard and Joanne Brown of Frankfort; two brothers, Chris Brown of Brighton and Peter Brown of Rockford; and a sister, Signe Ruddy of Frankfort.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home in Howell; the Rev. Jerry Aston of Arbour Meadows Community Church will officiate.
      Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
     
      Joseph A. Dyer
      Died January 29, 2000
      MESICK - Joseph A. Dyer, 67, of Mesick, passed away Saturday at his home.
      Born Jan. 29, 1933, in Beardstown, Ill., he was the son of Joseph and Irene (Brooks) Dyer.
      Joseph attended the Nazarene Church in Traverse City. He was a retired truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. Joseph loved motorcycles and truly loved his family and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
      Survivors include four sons, Jerry (Sue) Seidner of Traverse City, Franklin (Dianne) Dyer of Traverse City, Marty Scott (Lori) Dyer of Traverse City, and John (Linda) Dyer of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy (Tony) Brown of Elk Rapids and Jeanne (Richard) Howard of Skandia, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
      Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.
      Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the Nazarene Church, 1023 S. Division, Traverse City; the Rev. Richard Rice will officiate.
      Memorial donations may be made to the family.
      Arrangements are by Hitesman Funeral Home in Cadillac.
     
      Phyllis Elaine Gilson
      Died January 30, 2000
      SUTTONS BAY - Phyllis Elaine Gilson, 65, of Suttons Bay and Adrian, went home to be with God on Sunday due to brain cancer.
      She was born Dec. 8, 1934, to Nevels and Margaret Pearson in Lansing.
      Phyllis graduated from East Lansing High School, Michigan State University and Sienna Heights College. She taught full time in the Napolean public schools and was a substitute teacher and general equivalency diploma instructor in the Lenawee County schools until she retired. Phyllis subsequently worked at the Adrian Correctional Facility for two years.
      A nationally know square dance caller, Phyllis began calling in 1952. She called at 17 national and 35 state square dance conventions. At different times Phyllis led three square dance clubs in the Adrian area and six square dance clubs in other parts of Michigan (Happy Squares for three years, Bachelors & Bachelorettes for 15 years and Maple City Swingers for 28 years). Phyllis taught over 1,500 people to square dance during this time. She joined the Michigan Square Dance Leaders Association and served as the group's first woman president from 1988-89. She also belonged to CALLERLAB and the Toledo Western Dance Leaders. Her signature event was the "Pussycat Dance" held in April for the last 28 years.
      Phyllis had been married to Dale "Ed" Gilson since 1976. Ed survives along with Phyllis' daughters, Sheryl Styer of York, Pa., her husband, Bill, and their children, Nicole and Carlyle; and Laura Elser of Munich, Germany, and her husband, Matthias, and their children, Magdalena and Zacharias. Other survivors include her sister Barbara Greig of Vienna, Va., her husband Dave, and their children, Kathy VanMeter of Vienna, Va., Karen Graziano of Leesburg, Va., and Virginia and Chuck Greig of Hollywood, Fla. She is also survived by her step children, Debbie Stranges of San Antonio, Texas, and her husband, Steve, and their daughter Paige; and Dean Gilson of San Antonio, Texas, and his son, Keith.
      Phyllis' interests included Bible study and collecting cookie cuttters and seals.
      A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Adrian, 1245 W. Adrian Ave., Adrian; the Rev. Maurice Sharai will officiate.
      A service of remembrance of Phyllis' life will be held this summer at a time and date to be announced at Keswick United Methodist Church.
      Memorial contributions may be sent to Keswick United Methodist Church, 3376 South Center Highway, Suttons Bay, MI 49682, care of Marty Culver or Hospice of Lenawee County, 415 Mill St., Adrian, MI 49221.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      Lewis Anthony Sturk
      Died January 29, 2000
      CEDAR - Lewis Anthony Sturk, 80, of Cedar, died Saturday.
      Born June 19, 1919, in Owosso, he was the son of Dr. Lewis W. and Mae (Wallace) Sturk.
      Lewis was a car salesman for M.J. MacIntosh and Grand Traverse Auto. He was also the owner of Lew Sturk Used Cars from which he retired in 1970.
      A member of Bayview Wesleyan Church, he enjoyed singing, golf and playing his trumpet. Over the last 20 years he traveled with his wife to Florida where he directed and sang in the choir at the Sun and Fun Community Church.
      Lewis is loved and will be missed by his wife, the former Dorothy James of Cedar - they were married Aug. 17, 1937, in Indiana; his daughter, Cindy S. (Charles) Eldred; his grandson, Steven Eldred; his sister, Georgia Wood of Durand; his brother, James Sturk of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia White and Alice Rubelman.
      Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A "Celebration of Life" service will follow immediately; the Rev. Jack Steenbergh and the Rev. Brian Jones will officiate.
      Memorials may be made to the Bayview Missionary Society.
