JAMES A. PEFLEY, 51, of Manistee, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. A former bakery owner, he was born Dec. 25, 1948, in Manistee. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. AMY LYNN ZENKER, 30, of Benzonia, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Mexico. A physical therapist, she was born May 6, 1970. A full obituary will appear in the Tuesday Record-Eagle. (Herren) Baty Died July 29, 2000 TRAVERSE CITY - Dollena M. (Herren) Baty, 75, of Traverse City, died Saturday at Munson Hospital. Born Oct. 26, 1924, in Thompsonville, she was the daughter of John F. and Rillia E. (Hamilton) Herren. On Dec. 30, 1971, in Cadillac, she married Donald R. Baty who preceded her in death in 1989. Dollena graduated from Traverse City High School in 1941. She worked for 15 years at Kaiser Industrial Corp. in Cadillac and retired from Plaid Enterprises in Atlanta, Ga., in 1991. A former resident of Tucker, Ga., she had lived in Traverse City since 1993. She was a member of Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church in Norcross, Ga. Dollena enjoyed playing cards - especially at the Traverse City Senior Center. She loved her poodle, Benson, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her granddaughter, Cherianne R. Burmeister of Flint; two nieces, Sharon (Russell) Bonney of Beulah and Patricia (Leon) Fortine of Wichita, Kan.; five step children, Sheila (Gary) Donner of Atlanta, Ga., Mary (Joseph) Link of Ellicott City, Md., Rock (Kathleen) Baty of Johnson City, Tenn., Tom Baty of Leawood, Kan., and Donald (Jean) Baty of Dallas, Texas; a son-in-law, Roy F. Burmeister of Saginaw; and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kravontka of Traverse City and Dorothy Heren of Sun City, Ariz. Dollena was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Bolton; a daughter, Laureen D. Burmeister in 1995; and three brothers, Raymond and Donald Herren and Leo Hamilton. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home where services will follow at 2 p.m.; the Rev. Dean Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice. Jack D. Kiernan Jr. Died July 29, 2000 TRAVERSE CITY - Jack D. Kiernan Jr., 46, of Traverse City, went to be with his Lord and Savior after years of struggling with Hepatitis C. He passed away at the University of Michigan Health Systems in Ann Arbor. Jack was born May 25, 1954, in Pigeon, the son of Jack D. and Margaret Ann Nash Kiernan. A salesman for Fasteners, Inc., he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing Christian music on his guitar. A "Jack of all trades," he was known for his ability to fix anything. Survivors include his wife, Teresa C. (Marshall) Kiernan of Traverse City; five children, Shaun Bergsma, Claire Marshall, Ian Marshall, Sarah Kiernan, and Ian Kiernan; two brothers, Dan Kiernan of Florida and Tim Maskus of Michigan; two sisters, Kathy Maskus of Michigan and Michelle Curtis of Florida; and three grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debbie Castor. Friends may call at the time of memorial services which will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City; the Rev. Del Kinney will officiate. |
