Mary Lee Anderson Died March 29, 2000 MANCELONA - Mary Lee Anderson, 33, severely multiply-handicapped daughter of Allen and Virginia (Fagen) Anderson of Traverse City, died at her home at Rose Quality Care in Mancelona Thursday. Mary was born April 23, 1966, in Traverse City and lived with her family in Elk Rapids until 1987. She is survived by her parents, a sister, Beth Anderson of Traverse City, and a brother (Kenneth) Suzanne Anderson of Gaylord. Family graveside services will be held in Elk Rapids at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Margaret E. Breece Died March 28, 2000 ELK RAPIDS - Margaret E. Breece, 90, of Elk Rapids, died Tuesday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born Feb. 15, 1910, in Alden, she was the daughter of John and Alma (Sager) Armstrong. In 1934 she married William Jeffers of South Boardman, who preceded her in death in 1960. In 1965 she married James Aneff of Adrian who preceded her in death in 1990. In 1993 she married Neil Breece who preceded her in death in 1999. Margaret spent summers in Alden all her life. A public school teacher for 37 years, she taught in several different school districts including Alden, Adrian and Traverse City. Margaret was a member of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church in Alden. Survivors include a daughter, Alice (Joe) Landis of Traverse City, and a son, Fred (Betty) Jeffers of Escondido, Calif., seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many step children, step grand children, and step great-grandchildren. Margaret was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Armstrong. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alden United Methodist Church; the Rev. Richard Matson will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Helena Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Alden United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Yvonne Yvette McKeegan Died March 29, 1999 LAKE ORION - Yvonne Yvette McKeegan, 77, of Lake Orion, formerly of Elk Rapids, died Wednesday at home. Born May 28, 1922, in Ferndale, Mich., she was the only child of Norris Arnold and Thelma (Case) Arnold. She is survived by her five daughters, Diane Salkeld (Robert Bourque) of Oxford, Cheryl (Les) Nadasi of Traverse City, Janis (Patrick) Kennedy of Warren, Kimberly Dant‚ (Terry Coates) of Traverse City, and Kathleen (Tom) Ballard of Williamsburg, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Yvonne enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting and reading. She was also an avid outdoorswoman. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Lighthouse Hospice of Southfield, 24293 Telegraph Road, Southfiled, MI 48034. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Sparks-Griffen Funeral Home in Lake Orion. Ella "Marie" Oglesby Died March 30, 2000 BLAIR TOWNSHIP - Ella "Marie" Oglesby, 79, of Blair Township, died Thursday at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City. Born July 8, 1920, in Broad Creek, N.C., she was the daughter of Fred and Ella (Lewis) Sanders. On April 15, 1938, in Morehead City, N.C., she married Thomas Oglesby who died on June 13, 1984. A resident of the Traverse City area since 1994, Marie was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Traverse City. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening and arranging, and shopping. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Decker of Traverse City; two sons, Fred (Sue) Oglesby of Williamston, N.C., and Donald (Nancy) Oglesby of Wake Forest, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Oglesby, on April 16, 1993, and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Louise Mann. Friends may call at the time of memorial services which will be held at 5 p.m. today at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. The Rev. Tim Manzer will officiate. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Michigan, 932 N. Mitchell St., Cadillac, MI 49601. Helen Osborn Wagner Died March 21, 2000 TORCH RIVER - The world lost a truly gentle soul March 21 with the passing of Helen Osborn Wagner, 84, of Torch River. Helen spent her retirement years on Torch River as a friend to all animals. Village Market employees will remember her as the lady who bought cartloads of bread to feed her wildlife friends all year long. Helen was born in Kalkaska on Dec. 7, 1915, to James and Hazel Gill Osborn. She married Harold B. Wagner in Grayling on April 4, 1939. On Jan. 15, 1994, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband. Surviving are two brothers, Earl (Arlene) Osborn of Hart, and Jack Osborn of Wyoming, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and her true friends and neighbors, Claire and Elton Lawrence and Blain and Bridgett Russell. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. Arrangements are by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. |
