VIRGINIA K. KING, 73, of Traverse City, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Arrangements will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      Anthony C. Korson
      Died November 2, 2000
      NORTHPORT - Anthony C. Korson, 82, of Northport, died Thursday at Leelanau Memorial Health Center.
      Born July 27, 1918, in Gills Pier, he was the son of Martin and Anna (Kovarik) Korson.
      Tony served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a retired commercial painter and decorating contractor. Tony was also an avid gardener, cook and reader. He was a charter member of the VFW Lake Leelanau Post 7731.
      Survivors include a brother, Frank Korson and a sister, Pauline McMachen.
      He was preceded in death by six brothers, Victor, Lawrence, Edward, Robert, Fred and Albert; and two sisters, Agnes and Anna.
      Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Gills Pier with Rev. Andrew Buvala serving as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
      Memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or The Leelanau Memorial Health Center.
     
      Alvin Lewis 'Al' Nesky
      Died November 2, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Alvin Lewis "Al" Nesky, 78, of Traverse City, died Thursday at home.
      Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Traverse City, he was the son of John and Agnes (Zelinski) Aniskowski. On April 28, 1947, in Traverse City, he married the former Helen F. Sleder.
      A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, Al survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. For 20 years he owned and operated Auto Wholesalers in Flint. He began his employment with Traverse Motors in 1973, retiring in 1984 as a manager of the auto body shop. Al attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church. His hobbies included oil painting, reading, gardening, all sports and music. He especially enjoyed being a general handy man around the house.
      He is survived by his wife, Helen F. Nesky of Traverse City; one grandson, Jonathan Nesky of Kentwood; and one great-grandson, Jonas Nesky.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, John and Pamela Nesky in 1974; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Nesky in 1984; a son, Jeffrey Nesky in 1997; and a brother, Clarence Nesky.
      Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Dr. David Gabel and Rev. Bradley Will officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City.
      Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Munson Medical Center Auxiliary.
      Frank A. Strang
      Died November 2, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Frank A. Strang, 71, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Munson Medical Center.
      Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Leelanau County, he was the son of Frank and Lucy N. (Davis) Strang. On April 9, 1950, in Traverse City, he married the former Caroline M. Peck.
      A lifelong resident of the Traverse City area, Frank enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
      Survivors include his wife, Caroline, of Traverse City; three sons, Frank L. Strang of Traverse City and David (Marlene) Strang and Thomas Strang - both of Kingsley; one daughter, Linda (Thomas) Buie Traverse City; six sisters, Dorothy Wilder, Florence Burton and Joyce (Don) Maidens - all of Traverse City, Marian ("Pete" Vern) Maddasion of Grawn, Janet (Ron) Baerlocher of Roscommon and Donna (Murl) Evans of Lansing; three brothers, Joe Strang of Traverse City and Amil (Ellen) and Don (Mary) Strang - both of Kingsley; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cathy Burns; one brother, Glen Strang; and four sisters, Francis Lewis, Opal Turner, Edith May Strang in infancy and Leona L. Strang, a toddler.
      Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Pletcher officiating. Burial will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

      Denton V. Woodcock
      Died November 2, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Denton V. Woodcock, 90, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Bortz Health Care.
      Born Oct. 6, 1910, in Leavitt, he was the son of Almon and Nina (Thompson) Woodcock.
      Mr. Woodcock served in the National Guard from 1928 to 1931. He was an auto painter for General Motors and a member of College Terrace Wesleyan Church. He loved the outdoors, taking daily walks and traveling. He especially enjoyed his trips to Hawaii.
      He is survived by his sister-in-law, Leota Sanderson of Gregory and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ann Sanderson.
      Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the College Terrace Wesleyan Church in Traverse City with Rev. Donald Smith officiating. Burial will be at Lincoln Township Cemetery in White Cloud.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Cherryland Humane Society.
