Fred Eugene Neumann
      Died November 16, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Fred Eugene Neumann, 80, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Born Sept. 19, 1920, in Solon Township in Leelanau County, he was the son of Rudolph and Celia C. (Holmes) Neumann.
      Fred was formerly employed by Traverse City Public Schools in the maintenance department. He also worked as a carpenter and as a Leelanau County building inspector, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, making maple syrup the old fashion way and playing cards. He was a member of the Cedar-Maple City Lion's Club and Traverse City Aerie No. 383 Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
      He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean F. (Smith) Neumann of Traverse City; sons, Robert G. (Vivian) Neumann of Mason, Gerald L. (Jan) Neumann of Traverse City, Rudy R. (Jan) Neumann of Cedar and Fred C. (Tracie) Neumann of Grawn; a daughter, Kathy Jo (Kevin) McKinley of Williamsburg; 12 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Florance Black of Cedar, Dorothy (Bill) Carpenter of Traverse City and Joyce (Herb) Morris of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert William Neumann and Joe Neumann; and a sister, Celia E. (Neumann) Larabee.
      Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Micketti officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorials may be directed to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools Athletic Department or Cedar-Maple City Lion's Club for seeing eye dogs.
      Edna Margaret Robertson
      Died November 16, 2000
      FRANKFORT - Edna Margaret Robertson, 86, of Frankfort, formerly of Elberta, died Thursday at The Maples - Benzie County Medical Care Facility.
      Born Sept. 19, 1914, at Duck Lake, she was the daughter of Arthur and Katie (Dunning) Michum. On Jan. 3, 1942, in Frankfort, she married Ragnar Robertson, who preceded her in death in 1966.
      Edna was a member of the Elberta United Methodist Church, where she had been very active in the church choir. She enjoyed reading and writing letters and was known to keep every card and envelope that was ever sent to her.
      She is survived by her son, Robert M. (Audrey) Robertson of Chesterfield Township; her daughter, Betty Jean (Bill) Tanner of Manitowac, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred (Pat) Michum of Grawn and Harold (Jean) Michum of Frankfort; one sister, Micki Bishop of Elberta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, David Robertson, Kenneth Cane and Larry Cane; and one brother, Delbert Michum.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Edna Robertson Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
      Mabel E. Sbonek
      Died November 16, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Mabel E. Sbonek, 98, of Traverse City, died Thursday.
      A lifelong resident of this area, she was born Oct. 5, 1902, in Cedar. She was the daughter of William and Alice (Payette) DeNoyer. On May 23, 1922, in Lake Leelanau, she married the former Frank E. Sbonek.
      Prior to retirement, Mabel was employed as a postal clerk, serving as the first post mistress in Cedar and Traverse City. Mabel's memberships include Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Traverse City, American Legion Leelanau County, where she was a past president, past president of the VFW Auxiliary of Traverse City, past president of Eagles No. 383, past president of Catholic Daughters of America No. 1391 and a former charter member of Long Lake Association. Her hobby was sewing, where she made the vestments for the Catholic church. She was also instrumental in starting the sewing club at the Grand Traverse Medical Care and at Birchwood Nursing Center, and she enjoyed sewing for hospice.
      Survivors include 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Sbonek, in 1950; four daughters, Rosalie Jonas, Lena Jacobs, Wilheminia Marsh and infant Mabel Sbonek; five brothers, Joseph, Meda, Edmond, William and Napolean Denoyer; and two sisters, Adeline Schramski and Sophie Drow.
      Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, where the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 2780 will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. followed by the rosary at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. James Hayden serving as celebrant. Burial will be at Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation or Grand Traverse Pavilions Guild.
      Wilhelmine R. Tanner
      Died November 16, 2000
      SUTTONS BAY - Wilhelmine R. Tanner, age 64, of Suttons Bay, passed away Thursday.
      Born Oct. 21, 1936, in Rosenheim, Germany, she was the daughter of Wilhelm and Rosina (Saint Johansson) Reidler. On Dec. 3, 1981, in Albion, she married Larry L. Tanner, who survives.
      Wilhelmine came to the United States from Rosenheim, Germany, in 1960. She opened the Silkworm Clothing Boutique of Suttons Bay in 1984. She was also employed as a human resources manager at Sirfinco, Inc. since 1999. Wilhelmine's passion for travel took her and Larry to many places worldwide. Her "house on the hill," where she enjoyed gardening, decorating and entertaining their close friends, earned her the nickname "Queenie Wilhelmeenie."
      Wilhelmine, we love you and will miss you very much.
      She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Larry; four children, Larry (Tammy) Tanner, Jr. of Michigan Center, Marie (James) Dorangrichia of South Milwaukee, Wis., Rose Marie (Jack) Elser of Jonesville and Joseph R. (Mary) Tanner of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren, Tyrus Tanner, Ashley Tanner, Bobby Adair, Michelle Tanner, Julia Tanner, Mitchell Tanner, Tanner Dorangrichia, Roy Tanner and Maya Dorangrichia; one brother, Wilhelm Reidler II; and two sisters, Rosie Bauer and Renate Heger.
      She was preceded in death by her parents.
      Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Wayne Dziekan serving as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to cancer research.
      Amy Renee Templeton
      Died November 8, 2000
      CHEVY CHASE, Md. - Amy Renee Templeton died on Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland.
      Amy was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on November 17, 1956. She was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Michigan State University, and the University of Michigan School of Law. She began practicing law at Hunton and Williams law firm in Richmond, Virginia, in 1981, where she focused on public utility and energy issues. In 1985, she and her husband, Bruce, moved to the Washington, DC area, and she transferred her practice to Hunton and Williams' Washington office. In 1987 she joined Children's National Medical Center and became General Counsel in 1993. She left Children's in 1996 to devote more time to her family. Amy was very active in community affairs in Chevy Chase, DC, focusing her energies on meeting the needs of children.
      She leaves her husband, Bruce Alan Templeton, two daughters, Kara Renee, 11, and Alexandra Claire, 6. Other survivors include her parents Dorothy and Bruce VanderKlipp of Traverse City; two sisters, Gretchen Schleicher of Rochester, Michigan, and Wendy (husband, Mark) Johnson of Tampa, Florida; and one brother, Thom (wife, Jessica) VanderKlipp of Jacksonville, Florida.
      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Amy's memory be sent to the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, 550 North Broadway, Suite 801, Baltimore, Maryland, 21205, with a notation designating them for Dr. Deborah Armstrong's Cancer Research (in memory of Amy Templeton) or The Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, One Chevy Chase Circle, Washington, DC 20015.       Adrian W. 'Woody' VanderLinde
      Died November 16, 2000
      BEULAH - Adrian W. (Woody) VanderLinde, 64, of Beulah, died Thursday at Cartwright Hospice Center in Saginaw.
      Woody was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Kalamazoo, where he graduated from high school. He was the son of the late Adrian J. and Mercy D. (Wood) VanderLinde,
      Upon graduation, Woody enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict from Oct. 12, 1954 until Aug. 27, 1959. After returning from the service, Woody attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where he earned his BA and teaching certificate. He continued his education at Indiana Northern Profession School of Management, where he received his masters of business administration. Woody was employed for 13 years at Western Electric Hawthorn in Cicero, Ill. and for 15 years he was employed at Sargent and Lundy in Chicago as manager of security. Woody retired in 1993 when he and Vickie moved to Beulah. He was a member of The Sons of the American Revolution in Traverse City and Maine and was a retired 25 year member of the American Society of Industrial Security.
      Woody is survived by his wife Vickie J. VanderLinde of Beulah; four sons, George A. (Katherine), Thomas J. and John J. VanderLinde - all of Aurora, Ill., and Matthew R. (Tammy) VanderLinde of Kingsley; one daughter, Julie Ann VanderLinde of Crestwood, Ill.; a stepson, Michael A. Avery of Clarkston; a stepdaughter, Nicole M. Avery of Chicago, Ill.; a grandson, Wyatt VanderLinde of Aurora, Ill.; granddaughters, Jillian VanderLinde of Aurora, Ill. and Whitney and Ashley VanderLinde of Kingsley; a sister, Joan Phillips of Morristown, NJ; and his brother, Louis (Nancy) VanderLinde of Clarkston.
      There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
      Oak Grove Cremation Center of Manistee is in charge of arrangements.
