KYLE JUSTIN BUTLER, 64, of Alexandria, Va., passed away Nov. 9, 2000, at the Fairfax Hospital in Church Falls, Va.
      Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held at the DeMoin Funeral Home in Springfield, Va. on Nov. 12.
     
      JULIE ANN COOPSHAW, 41, of Brethren, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at West Shore Medical Care in Manistee.
      Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today at The Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of service.
     
      JEAN JAHRAUS, 79, of Traverse City, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at home. A full obituary will appear in Thursday's Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      SANDRA LEE 'SANDY' LAIRD, 59, of Acme, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in Traverse City.
      Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Feast of Victory Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery A complete obituary will appear in Thursday's Record-Eagle.
     
      VIRGINIA A. MUCHA, 84, of Manistee, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. She was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Manistee.
      Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where evenings prayers will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, also in Manistee.
     
      RAY JACK SMITH, 60, of Bellaire, died suddenly Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his video shop he owned and operated in Bellaire.
      Visitation was held Tuesday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Bellaire.
     
      Bernard 'Ben' Conrad
      Died November 19, 2000
      FRANKFORT - Bernard "Ben" Conrad, 78, of Frankfort, died Sunday at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
      Ben was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Grand Rapids, the son of Stanley and Eva (Dorenz) Conrad.
      Ben graduated from Central Michigan University with a BS and his master's from University of Michigan. He was a special education teacher in the North Branch area for several years. He was also a basketball coach and was an avid sports fan. During World War II, he served with the Quartermasters on a minesweeper in the South Pacific. Ben was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort.
      On Nov. 26, 1946, at St. Ann Catholic Church, he married Arlene Gilroy, who survives. Ben is also survived by his children, Patti Conrad of Frankfort and Ben of Frankfort; a granddaughter, Michelle Conrad; and a great-grandson, Evan Waylon Jones.
      Ben was preceded in death by a daughter Mary in 1998.
      Private family services were held from the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes, with Father Richard Koosterman officiating.

      Cornelius P. Devine
      Died November 20, 2000
      KALKASKA - Cornelius P. Devine, 87, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Monday at the home of his son in West Branch.
      Mr. Devine was born in Kalkaska County on April 5, 1913, to Robert and Rose (Dockery) Devine. He married Frances MacHale in Glenview, Ill. on Feb. 11, 1950. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2000.
      Prior to his retirement in 1976, Mr. Devine was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation. He was a former member of the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Authority Board and had served on the Excelsior Township Board of Review. He was also a member of St. Mary of the Wood Catholic Church and a charter member and past Grand Knight of St. Joseph the Worker Council No. 7419, Knights of Columbus.
      Surviving are a son, Robert (Catherine) Devine of West Branch; a daughter, Maureen (Jerry) Hayes of Grayling; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
      A brother, Bernard, and two sisters, Katherine Devine and Mary Eileen Downey, preceded him in death.
      Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska and at St. Mary of the Woods Church from 7 to 9 p.m., where an evening service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with Father Jim Holtz serving as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.

      Kenneth H. Kirsch
      Died November 16, 2000
      FULTON, Texas - Kenneth H. Kirsch, 67, of Fulton, Texas, formerly of Traverse City, Mich., died Thursday.
      Born May 8, 1933, in Traverse City, he was the son of Ernest and Irene (Henry) Kirsch. On May 19, 1956, in Traverse City, he married the former Arlene Rohdy.
      Kenneth was a 1951 graduate of St. Francis High School in Traverse City. He served in the U.S. Navy and is a Korean War veteran. He is a member of the VFW Cherryland Post No. 2780, the Eagles No. 383 and was named Eagle of the year in 1993. Kenneth was employed at the Traverse City Iron Works for 16 years and later managed Canteen Service. He had been living in Fulton, Texas, for the past five years. His memberships also include the American Military League No. 1 and the American Legion Post No. 363 in Rockport, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, woodcrafting, camping and served as a little league baseball coach. A ball player, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball.
      He is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, James (Mary) Kirsch of Traverse City, Debra (David) Casey of Kilgore, Texas, Kenneth (Gwen) Kirsch, Jr. of Grand Rapids and Robert (Debra) Kirsch of Kingsley; six granddaughters, Samantha, Celina and Sabrina Kirsch of Traverse City, Jamie Casey of Kilgore, Texas, and Courtney and Brittani Kirsch of Kingsley; two grandsons, Ben and Joel Kirsch of Grand Rapids; a brother, David Kirsch of Buckley; two sisters, Diane (Tom) Garmhausen of Traverse City and Beverly (Marv) Schneider of Buckley; and a stepsister, Maryanne Shelhart of Dexter.
      He was preceded in death by his parents.
      Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes with Rev. Nick Twomey officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. today at the funeral home until the time of service.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Cherryland Post No. 2780 or a charity of one's choice.
     
      William James Sivek
      Died November 20, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - William James Sivek, 68, of Traverse City, passed away Monday peacefully in his sleep.
      Born Dec. 3, 1931, in Grand Rapids, he was the son of Norbert and Vera (White) Sivek.
      A resident of Traverse City for most of his life, he graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1949. He then joined the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was stationed in Newfoundland and Bolling AFB. While still in the Air Force in 1953, he married Patricia Potts. They have four children, Cynthia (Allen) Stanford, Deb Majszak, Tracey (Randy) O' Connor and Marcia Sivek (Vince Duperron) - all of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Amber Clarici, Brook Stanford, Nathaniel Majszak, Rachel Majszak, Melissa Majszak and Benjamin O'Connor; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jacob Rapmund.
      William enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and being with his family. He was an avid writer. He retired after 33 years of working at Cone Drive Gear of Traverse City. William was a brick layer, contributing his abilities to the construction on many buildings, schools, and churches in Traverse City.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Sivek and Bob Sivek; one sister, Mary Lou; and one grandson, Zachary James Stanford.
      Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Megge serving as celebrant. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of service. Burial will be at Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
      Memorials may be directed to the family.
      The mighty oak stands alone no more
      Inger Anna Terol
      Died November 20, 2000
      TRAVERSE CITY - Inger Anna Terol, 79, of Traverse City, died Monday.
      Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Denmark, she married Gerard Terol, who preceded her in death. Inger lived in the Traverse City area since 1986, moving from Royal Oak.
      Inger was retired from the GM Tech Center in Warren where she was an executive secretary for over 30 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City.
      She is survived by some relatives in Denmark and Holland, and some close friends.
      There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Bradley Will officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Park Cemetery in Royal Oak.
      Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund.
      Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
