Obituaries

      ROBERT W. LANCING, 83, of Bear Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home. A retired iron worker, he was born Aug. 24, 1917, in Marion, Ind.
      Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Chapel, Cadillac Memorial Gardens, in Mount Clemens. The Edwards Funeral Home in Bear Lake is in charge of arrangements.
     
      MARGARET D. LONG, 84, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000.
      Arrangements will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      JAMES MUCHE, 57, of Manton and Fife Lake, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac.
      Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Manton.
     
      PETER TRENT, 60, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. A full obituary will appear in a later Record-Eagle.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      Joseph Miller
      Died October 21, 2000
      ELBERTA - Joseph Miller, 87, of Elberta, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort.
      He was born October 17, 1913, in Flint, the son of the late Tony and Valeria Ruskowski, and attended the Flint schools. Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 13, 1942, until December 17, 1945, in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines. He married Margerite Maxwell in Flint in the summer of 1948. She preceded him in death. Joe had been employed as a purchasing Supervisor for AC Sparkplug in Flint for 42 years until his retirement in 1978. He also taught for two years at the General Motors Institute. Joe moved to Alberta in 1984 where has lived since.
      Joe was a member of the Polish Legion of America, U.S.A., Post #8, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #222, both of Flint, and the A.A.R.P. His passion was golf, having continued to play until just a year ago.
      He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Dale Climie of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Andrea Gesner, Anette Lemke, Sandy Peterson, and Joseph A. Tenerelli; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Dale Deditch; two sisters, Mildred Fetiland and Dorothy Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
      He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents and wife, by two brothers and two sisters.
      A private family visitation will be held today, October 23, 2000, at Oak Grove Cremation Center in Manistee from 2 to 4 p.m.
