April 8, 2001ObituariesKINGSLEY - Charles Stanley Thompson, 50, of Kingsley, formerly of Northern Minnesota, died on Wednesday.He was born on Jan. 5, 1951, in Genesee County, the son of Lewis S. and Mary V. (Blackwell) Thompson. On May 5, 1999, in Traverse City, he married the former Leah (Joey) Babcock. Charles was employed as an oil patch with Key Energy. He was a member of the Local Laborers Union, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, animal husbandry, woodworking and working with the elderly. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Joey Mitchell of Kingsley; his mother, Mary Beaurman of Kitchner, Ontario; a daughter, Amy Thompson; three brothers, David of Florida, Jerry (Robin) of California and John of Kingsley; a sister, Susan Thompson Green of Texas; five stepchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Seiser, Monique Mitchell, William Mitchell and Misty and Matt Howe; a grandson, Mitchell Seiser; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two faithful companions, his dogs, Sophie and Butch. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Thompson. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001, from noon to 4 p.m. at 4418 M 113 East, Kingsley (home of John Thompson). Memorial contributions may be directed to the Traverse City Senior Center, 801 E. Front St., Traverse City, MI 49686. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. |
