Dorothy K. Johnson
      Died April 20, 2001
      BEULAH - Dorothy K. Johnson, 92, of Beulah, died Friday at her residence.
      She was born in Beulah on March 27, 1909, the daughter of Alfred E. and Minnie Mae (Mertz) Taylor. In Homestead Township on July 14, 1935, she married Alvin J. Johnson, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1998.
      Mrs. Johnson taught school for the Benzie Central School district for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture.
      She is survived by her sons, David (Linda Smith) Johnson of Laingsburg and Carl (Bonnie) Johnson of Beulah; her daughter, Alice (Ken) Matteson of East Jordan; brother, Alfred (Ines) Taylor of Beaverton; sister, Lois (Max) Flowerday of Holland; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
      In addition to her husband, Alvin, she was preceded in death by her parents; her baby, Alfred Edward; granddaughter, Michelle Weir; and brothers, Benjamin and Edwin.
      Friends may call at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah today from 5 to 7 p.m.
      Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 p.m., with Fr. Harold L. Comer officiating. Burial will be in Homestead Township Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to The Dorothy K. Johnson Memorial Fund.
      Ardith B. Westcott
      Died April 21, 2001
      MANCELONA - Ardith B. Westcott, 74, of Mancelona, died Saturday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      She was born in Kewadin on Aug. 17, 1926, the daughter of Charlie and Sylvia Powell. On May 31, 1969 in Traverse City, she married Kenneth A. Westcott, who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1995. On April 16, 1998 in Branson, Mo., she married Chester Borkowski.
      Ardith worked as a registered nurse at the Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital for several years, and then worked as a supervisor at the Traverse City State Hospital until her retirement in 1971. She was a member of the Antrim Church of Christ. She enjoyed working in her flower garden.
      Ardith is survived by her husband, Chester Borkowski of Mancelona; one son, Kenneth (Gertrude) Westcott of Mancelona; one daughter, Judith (Alfred) Cook of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cynthia Kolarik in 1972; one granddaughter, Kim Kolarik in 1994; one brother, Pat Powell; and two sisters, Lottie Jamison and Minnie Cambell.
      The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in Mancelona.
      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona.
      Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
      EILEEN V. NELSON, 81, of Traverse City, died Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Munson Medical Center.
      Visitation will take place Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at the funeral home. A full obituary will appear in Tuesday's Record-Eagle.
     
      MURIEL BEECHER (SMITH) ELLIS, 86, of Torch Lake, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Meadowbrook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire.
      A full obituary announcing graveside services will appear at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      SCOTT M. LOVE, 34, of Kingsley, formerly of Fife Lake, died Friday, April 20, 2001. He was born July 26, 1966 in Port Huron.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Boardman Township Cemetery.
