August 26, 2001ObituariesPLYMOUTH - James E. Monteith, 82, of Plymouth, formerly of Lake Ann, died on Saturday in Farmington Hills. James was born on Sept. 9, 1918, in Detroit. He graduated from Wayne State University in 1954. He married the late Shirley Monteith, who preceded him in death.James was a retired architect from Eberle-Smith in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945 in Europe and in South Pacific. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Traverse City and a former member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Plymouth. He is survived by his sons, Clifton (Nancy) Monteith of Lake Ann and David (Patricia) Monteith of Plymouth; a brother, Richard Monteith; a sister, Marie Sturmer; and three grandchildren. Private services were held at the McCabe Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Arrangements were handled by the McCabe Funeral Home Canton Chapel, 851 Canton Center Road, Canton, MI 48187, (734) 981-4530. ADRIAN JOY MASTEJ, 44, of Grayling, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at home. She was born Feb. 26, 1957, in Detroit. Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel in Grayling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grayling. THEO BELLE KOEHLE, 82, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City. Arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral Services for LOIS J. MCDANIEL will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. MARGARET JANE BUTTON, 83, of Grayling, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, in Grayling. She was born on April 15, 1918, in Rosebush. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel in Grayling. DOROTHEA B. PORDON, 80, of Kalkaska, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. She was born March 12, 1921, in Howeville, W.Va. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, with a Scripture Wake service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. |
