December 7, 2001ObituariesSAGINAW, Texas - Jeremiah Garrett Mills, 21, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, after courageously fighting Ewing's Sarcoma for seven years.Jeremiah was born in Fort Benning, Ga. on Feb. 22, 1980. He graduated from high school in 1998 and then attended Texas Tech University from 1998 until the fall of 2000. Through his strong faith in God, Jeremiah touched the lives of friends and family alike. Jeremiah is survived by his mother, Valerie Harvath Mills of Saginaw, Texas; his father, John G. Mills (Kaylene) of Lipan, Texas; his brothers, Bruce and Darrell Balmer, and Joshua G. Mills; his sister, Heather Mills; his grandparents, Florance H. Lee of Mason, and Maurice Dawson of Central Lake; great-aunts and great-uncles including, Olga Mills of Bellaire, Perry (Opal) Mills of California, and Wayne (Phyllis) Mills; aunt and uncles including, "Joe" F.J. (Theresa) Mills III of Holt and Faith Mills (John) Hershiser of California; and a number of cousins including, "Joey" F.J. Mills IV of Colorado, and Shana Mills of Michigan. Jeremiah was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, F.J. Mills Sr., Mary Mills, and J. Gerald and Irene (Oliver) Bedell; grandparents, LeRoy Lee, Melva Mills Dawson, Joseph Harvath, and F. Joseph Mills Jr.; aunts and uncles, Marion Harvath, Gertrude Mills Morton, Sheldon Mills, Dwight Mills, Kate Bedell, and Jim Bedell. The family asks that memorial contributions in Jeremiah's name be directed to the National Cancer Institute, Financial Branch, Bldg. 31, Room 11A16, 900 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892 (please specify Ewing's Sarcoma Research), or to Cook Children's Medical Center, 801 7th Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76104 (please specify Hematology-Oncology). ROSS S. BAKER, 76, of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Munson Medical Center. Private services will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake. LAKE ANN - Brian James Knudsen, 41, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, and now is at home with his Heavenly Father. Brian was born Nov. 11, 1960, in Traverse City, the son of Kenneth E. and Jeanie (Kishefsky) Knudsen. Brian was a lifelong resident of the area. Brian was a 1979 graduate of St. Francis High School and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He was employed with the family business, Ken's Pick Up Service, prior to becoming a partner in Cheval-Knudsen Properties, Inc. Brian enjoyed all sports, especially bowling, golfing, skiing and baseball. Brian is survived and loved by his parents, Ken and Jeanie Knudsen of Traverse City; his brothers and sisters, Teresa S. (Gerard) Casper and Diane M. (Robert) Wolcheck, all of New Jersey, Kathryn A. (Lawrence) Mousseau, Kenneth J. (Deborah) Knudsen, David G. (Jane) Knudsen, Barbara J. (Michael) Teter and Michael J. (Tammy) Knudsen, all of Traverse City; his son, Jeremy Knudsen, currently serving with the U.S. Armed Forces; 19 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Brian was preceded in death by a sister, baby Susan Marie; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be today from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with The Rev. Father James Gardiner serving as Celebrant. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Brian's name at Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools, and/or The Carmelite Monastery. |
