Obituaries

LADY LAKE - Joseph Ricciardi Sr., 69, of Lady Lake, died on Saturday.
      Born in Michigan, he moved to Lady Lake from Westland in June 2001. He was former owner of Ricciardi's Restaurant in Eastport and Traverse City, a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Lady Lake, Ducks Unlimited and the Elks Lodge in Traverse City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Conflict.
      Survivors include his wife, Frances E. Ricciardi of Lady Lake; one son, Joseph H. Ricciardi Jr. of Cave Creek, Ariz.; four daughters, Karen Ricciardi of Grand Junction, Colo., Kimberly Ciesla of Traverse City, Coleen Hoopfer of Lady Lake and Maria Ricciardi of Chicago; one brother, Servio Ricciardi of Traverse City; one sister, Antoinette Rozich of Dearborn Heights; six grandchildren.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Villages Hospice, c/o Tracey Mathews, 1100 Main St., The Villages, FL 32159.
      Arrangements were by Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake.
      NILES - Robert "Bobby Joe" Jacobs Jr., 37, of Niles, died Sunday at his home following a brief illness.
      He was born on April 4, 1964, in Detroit, the son of Robert J. and Jackquelin Joel (Oler) Jacobs Sr., and lived most of his lifetime in Niles.
      He is survived by his mother, Jackie Jacobs of Traverse City and father, Robert Sr. of Niles; grandmother, Mary Ann Jacobs of Niles; one brother, Paul and Lisa Jacobs of Bangor, Maine; and a niece, Kylie Jacobs.
      Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
      TEXAS - Arlene R. Felzke, of Texas, formerly of Traverse City and the Honor area, passed away on Sunday after a lingering illness.
      She is survived by her husband, Robert Felzke of Granbury; daughters, Susan Felzke of Fort Worth, Texas and Kathy Terryah and husband, Tim of Granbury; grandchildren, Shawn Terryah, Melissa Terryah and Jaclynn Terryah, all of Granbury, and many friends.
      Donations to your favorite charity in her name are welcomed.
      HOLLAND - Isabel V. Segovia, 72, a resident of Holland since 1978, died on Friday at Zeeland Community Hospital.
      He is survived by his wife, Noelia Segovia of Holland; his children, John and Joanne Nunez of Holland, Jose and Ruth Ann Segovia of Traverse City, Isabel Jr. and Sylvia Segovia of Holland, Diana Segovia of Muskegon, Roy Segovia of Holland, Jessie and Janie Segovia of Holland, Cynthia and Joe Wilard of Zeeland, Robert Segovia of Holland, Rene and Griselda Segovia of Holland and Becky Segovia of Holland; 27 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Juan and Rosa Segovia of Houston; father-in-law, Leopoldo Zuniga of Holland; in-laws, Joe and Esperanza Zuniga of Holland, Eva Vasquez of Waukesha, Wis., Leo and Jeanna Zuniga of Holland, Gilbert and Joan Zuniga of Waukesha, Wis., Mary Ariola of Blytheville, Ark., Janie Zuniga of Holland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
      Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Downtown Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, Inc., 29 East 9th Street.
      Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Dudek officiating. Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
      TRAVERSE CITY - Viola M. VanVorst, 94, died Sunday at Tendercare of Traverse City.
      Born July 8, 1907, in Clare, she was the daughter of Julius W. and Lena P. (Schug) Schaeffer.
      Viola attended Mt. Pleasant College and later taught school until she married William VanVorst on Aug. 18, 1930.
      They moved to Lowell where she was a mother, gardener, 4-H Club leader, Sunday School teacher, always busy.
      In 1952, they moved north to the Long Lake area of Grand Traverse County. Viola went back to teaching at Old Mission Schools, and finally completed her education with a degree in 1964.
      After William died in 1979, she spent 16 winters in Florida. The last two years were also good at Riverview Terrace in Traverse City.
      Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Sally) Svec of Rochester Hills and Nancy J. Rosinski of Suttons Bay; three granddaughters, Mrs. Glen (Sue Ann) Turton of Oxford, Ala., Toni Jo Heidich of Convent Station, N.J., Sharilee L. Rosinski of Suttons Bay; sister, Dorothy Dillon of Clare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      Viola was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Lowell; and a sister, Alice.
      Visitation will be at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
      Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C. Jay Koehler officiating.
      Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
      JACK ADDISON MARTIN, 72, of Traverse City, died Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Arrangements are pending at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and a full obituary will appear in the future edition of the Record-Eagle.
     
      WILDA A. SCHAEFER, 78, of South Boardman, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born on May 19, 1924, in Saginaw.
      Visitation will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
