FRANCES E. BICKMANN, 56, of Frederic, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at her residence.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel, Grayling.
     
      URSAL M. BIRGY, 87, of Fife Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in Kalkaska. She was born on March 8, 1914, in Kalkaska County.
      Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. A Mass service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
     
      DOROTHEA S. BUSH, age 93, of Acme, formerly of Grosse Pointe, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home at the time of the service.
      A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of the Record-Eagle.
     
      GENEVIEVE G. GOLEMBIEWSKI, age 75, of Manistee, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at West Shore Medical Center.
      Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at the Herbert Funeral Home.
      Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

      MEREDA M. KROPP, age 71, of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001.
      Private family services will be held at a later date.

      HAROLD "DAVID" MAGEL, age 71, of Kingsley, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at his residence.
      Arrangements are pending with the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.

      MAX SANDERSON, 75, of Traverse City, formerly of Saginaw, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Detroit.
      Arrangements to be announced by the Covell Funeral Home, Traverse City chapel.
     
      ELIZABETH ANN TURNER, age 80, of Stronach, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at her home.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Arthur Charles Elsenheimer, 61, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
      Art was born on Oct. 2, 1940, in Lansing and was the son of Arthur Bruno and Mary Charlene (Mulvaney) Elsenheimer. On Jan. 2, 1965, Art married the former Louise E. Naughton in Rocky River, Ohio.
      Art was a graduate of St. Francis Catholic High School. He received his associate's degree from Northwestern Michigan College, and his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University.
      Art worked for several years as the director of the Scenic Trails Council for the Boy Scouts of America, was the first full time director of the Grand Traverse Area United Way from 1970 to 1979, and was later the executive director of the Traverse Area Industrial Fund. Art served as a Grand Traverse county commissioner for 12 years, and was chairman of the board for two years. He was proud to be instrumental in the construction of the Grand Traverse County Governmental Center. Art was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
      In 1988, Art founded Forward North Real Estate and Development, where he continued to work until a few weeks prior to his death.
      Art moved to Traverse City at the age of two and raised his family on the same farm where he grew up. He loved and appreciated the Grand Traverse area and enjoyed all it had to offer. Art enjoyed sailing, hunting, and playing tennis and racquetball.
      Art will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a true friend to many, and the Detroit Lions' most ardent fan.
      Art is survived by his wife Louise; his four children, Kevin (Ann) Elsenheimer of Bellaire, Jennifer (Tom) Lodge of Traverse City, Jason (Angela) Elsenheimer of Traverse City, and Todd Elsenheimer and his fiancee, Dhana Lockhart of Elk Rapids; his mother Mary Charlene Elsenheimer of Traverse City; his six grandchildren, Nathan and Chloe Lodge, Emma, Noah, Jacob and Jenna Elsenheimer; his sisters and brothers, Diane (Leonard) Waclawski, Gerald (Marlene) Elsenheimer, Mary Mathieu, and Tom Elsenheimer. Art is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
      Art was preceded in death by his father.
      A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Duane Wachowiak serving as presider.

      SAGINAW - Dorothy M. Walkmeyer, 84, of Saginaw, and formerly of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Alterra of Saginaw.
      Dorothy was born on May 23, 1917, in Pontiac, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Stewart. She married Robert Huey in 1940, who preceded her in death in 1970. Dorothy then married Harold Searing who also preceded her in death.
      Dorothy lived in Traverse City for 20 years, and it was here that she married John Walkmeyer, who also preceded her in death. Dorothy was active in Daisy Chain, was a Cherry Festival Ambassador, and was also an active volunteer and supporter of Munson Medical Center.
      Dorothy had resided in Saginaw for the last five years at McBrite and Shattuck Manors.
      Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Dan) Proctor of Saginaw; her son, Charles Huey; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
      A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Charles Guerreno Jr. officiating. Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

      TRAVERSE CITY - Henry V. Korb, 73, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Henry was born on Sept. 23, 1928, in Traverse City, the son of Henry Sr. and Catherine (Moore) Korb. In March of 1948 in Traverse City, he married the former Joyce Clark who preceded him in death in Feb. 1985. On Dec. 3, 1988 he married the former Marie Hawley, who survives.
      A lifelong resident of Traverse City, Mr. Korb was a cook at the Traverse City State Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Traverse City and a former member of both the Eagles Aerie # 383 and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing.
      Along with his wife, Marie, he is also survived by three children, Clark A. Korb of Traverse City, Jon M. (Sally) Korb of Cedar Springs, and Kim (Jim) Bir of Grand Rapids; three step children, Diane Thompson of Midland, Denise (Don) Neihardt of Milwaukee, Wis. and Deborah (Jeff) Drinkert of Roanoke, Va.; his sister, Lorna Jean Walsh of Overland Park, Kan.; a total of 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter.
      Mr. Korb was also preceded in death by his parents.
      Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 21, with Rev. Larry Ross officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Jerome Edward Lautner, 81, lifelong resident of the Traverse City area, died at home early Wednesday morning.
      He was born Feb. 7, 1920, at his family home in Long Lake Township, Grand Traverse County, the son of Joseph and Florence (Courtade) Lautner.
      He attended the Lautner School on County Line Road (M-72) and St. Francis High School, graduating in 1938. He joined the United States Army in October 1941 and was sent overseas in January 1942. He spent the next three years during World War II with the 133rd Infantry, where he served as a Squad Leader in the Red Bull Division serving in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in October 1944 during the Rome-Arno Campaign. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in May of 1945 after 38 months of continuous overseas duty. He was one of the first soldiers in Grand Traverse County to come home after the war ended in Europe. Following his service with the Army, Jerome was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail to the west side of Traverse City and the Greilickville area for the next 35 years. He retired in 1979. On Oct. 11, 1947, he married Arlene A. Rokos at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City, and together they built their home on West Bay Shore Drive where they have lived since 1949. Jerome was a loving and faithful husband who enjoyed his home and family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, neighbors and friends. He loved working in his yard and took a great deal of pride in caring for his lawn and flower beds. He also enjoyed making maple syrup with his father-in-law on the family's Centennial Farm on M-72 and continued the hobby until ill health forced him to give it up. He enjoyed sharing the syrup with his family and friends. Jerome was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, Branch 618 of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
      He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years; two loving daughters, Kathy (Jack) DiPisa and Karen Fehrman; three very special grandchildren, Michael (Corrine) DiPisa, Melissa DiPisa and Kristin Fehrman; one great-grandchild, Vincent DiPisa; three brothers, Ralph (Mary) Lautner, LaVern (Maxine) Lautner and Cletus (Marie) Lautner; and one sister, Cleo (Joe) Cavitch, all of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents.
      A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with The Rev. Father James Hayden serving as celebrant. Burial will be in the family lot at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with a scripture service at 7 p.m.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Elmwood Township Fire and Rescue Dept., Munson Hospice, or for Mass Intentions.
      TRAVERSE CITY - The Rev. Charles Francis Goudey, 99, of Traverse City, formerly of Lansing, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
      He was born June 1, 1902 in Hartford, Conn., the son of Henry and May (Starratt) Goudey.
      He married Ruth Sarah Brown on August 31, 1929 and she preceded him in death Oct. 17, 1990. He then married May Huels on April 29, 1991 and she preceded him in death Oct. 23, 2001.
      Rev. Goudey had been a Congregational pastor for over 60 years, serving in Lynn, Mass., Lyndonville, Vt., Grand Rapids, Detroit, and he retired from Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lansing in 1970. He had served as a trustee of The Michigan Conference of The United Church of Christ and especially enjoyed being involved with the youth at his various churches. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, High 12, and loved camping, boating and fishing.
      Survivors include his son, Donald Brown (Carole) Goudey of Traverse City; three grandsons, Charles D. (Bobbi) Goudey, Daniel B. (Carrie) Goudey, Peter J. (Patti) Goudey; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caitlin, Heather, Brandon, Sarah, Rachael and Trevor; his stepdaughters, Lonni Huels and Michelle Huels; and his step-grandchildren, Jodi, Michael and Austin.
      In addition to his wives, Rev. Goudey was preceded in death by three children in infancy; his parents; a brother, Earl; and his sisters, Peggy and Florence.
      A private family interment service will be held in the Garden of Remembrance at The First Congregational Church in Traverse City.
      Memorial contributions may be made to your local Alzheimer Association, Hospice, or to a charity of your choice.
