Betty L. Leipply
      Died February 23, 2001
      SUTTONS BAY - Betty L. Leipply, 65, formerly of Colorado, died Friday at her home in Suttons Bay.
      Born Oct. 1, 1935 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Earl R. and Thelma Sue (Burke) Kingins.
      A member of New Hope Community Church in Williamsburg, Betty previously attended the Denver First Church of the Nazarene in Englewood, Colo. Betty was the owner of A.B. Gold International Wholesale Jewelry in Denver, Colo. until her retirement.
      She is survived by her daughters, Etola L. (Kevin) Simbeck and Tarla L. (Mark) Perdew, both of Bailey, Colo.; a brother, Edward Rae Kingins of Detroit; a sister, Dorothy Mae (Alan) Meyers of Rocky River, Ohio; and a brother, Robert Earl (Jeannette) Kingins of Oceanside, Calif.; three grandchildren, Chandler and Kyler Simbeck; and Austin S. Perdew, all of Bailey, Colo.
      Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Beverly Jean Kingins.
      Cremation has taken place and family services are being held.

      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      Dorothy P. McAnulty
      Died February 26, 2001
      FRANKFORT - Dorothy P. McAnulty, 87, of Frankfort, formerly of Platte Lake, died Monday at Frankfort Senior Home.
      She was born on Dec. 27, 1913 in Detroit, the daughter of Oscar E. and Josephine A. (Wouters) Mittlestaedt. She married Robert Milo McAnulty on April 15, 1943, in Detroit.
      Dorothy came to this area from Royal Oak in 1973. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort. She was a member of The Animal Welfare League, R.S.V.P., The Commission on Aging and The Benzie Area Christian Neighbors. She graduated from The Academy of Sacred Heart, U. of M. in 1936, and received her teaching degree from Wayne State University.
      She is survived by her daughters, Maureen McAnulty and Her Husband, Warren Southworth, Carol L. McAnulty and Richard Posey and Darcy. She is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.
      She was preceded in death by both Parents; Her Brother, Oscar E. Mittlestaedt; and Her Husband.
      Funeral services will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Fr. James Bearss officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Burial will be at Champion Hill Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
      Arrangements have been handled by Bennett-Barz Funeral Home of Beulah.
     
      **FLAG** Ernest Gerald Kalchik
      Died Feb. 25, 2001
      GILLS PIER - Ernest Gerald Kalchik, 65, of Gills Pier, died on Sunday at Munson Medical Center.
      He was born on Jan. 17, 1936, in Gills Pier, the son of Martin and Anna (Kroupa) Kalchik.
      Ernest attended Northport School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He had resided at Bortz Health Care Center since 1989 due to a closed head injury. Prior to his closed head injury, which left him paralyzed, he enjoyed picking mushrooms, playing euchre, watching Tigers baseball and listening to polka music. He had been employed at the Frigid Foods Factory in Suttons Bay. He also worked at Leelanau Fruit Company.
      He is survived by a sister, Kathryn Schaub of Gills Pier; two brothers, Joseph Kalchik of Gills Pier and John Kalchik of Muskegon.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marion (Raymond) Priest; and three brothers, Willard, Robert and George Kalchik.
      Cremation has taken place. A memorial burial service, which will be held at St. Wenceslaus Church, will be announced in the spring.
      Memorials may be directed to Mass Intentions or St. Wenceslaus Church. Arrangements are being handled by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay.
     
      ELIZABETH "BETTY" ANN GEORGE, 67, of Traverse City, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending with Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
     
      DONAVAN A. LEE, 90, of Suttons Bay, died Tuesday Feb. 27, 2001 at Leelanau Memorial Health Center in Northport.
      Arrangements are pending at Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
