Obituaries

PATRICK L. BURDEN, 87, of Traverse City, died early Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Foley, Ala.
      Arrangements will be announced by The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      DAVID R. FERENS, 52, of Beulah, died suddenly on Saturday Morning, March 17, 2001, in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
      Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
     
      BARBARA J. MORRIS, 64, of Echo Township, formerly of Lansing, died Friday, March 16, 2001 at home. She was born Nov. 3, 1936.
      Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services.

            ROBERT "ROB" WESTLUND, 41, of Elk Rapids, died on Saturday, March 17, 2001.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      MANISTEE - Virginia (Ginny) Perry, 69, of Manistee, died on Sunday, March 11, 2001, at her winter residence in Cape Haze, Fla.
      Ginny was born June 16, 1931, in Euclid, Ohio, the daughter of Erwin and Florence (Wise) Norris. She attended Kent State University. Ginny married Harold E. (Hank) Perry on Oct. 3, 1952 in Traverse City. They had recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Ginny and Hank moved to the Manistee area in 1952 from Traverse City.
      Ginny was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Manistee. She was a member of the Manistee Golf and Country Club and a former member of the Lakeside Club.
      She is survived by her husband, Hank; five sons and daughters-in-law and her grandchildren, Kent and Natascha and Alexander Perry of Hackettstown, N.J., Mark, Mary Beth and Erica Perry of Ann Arbor, Forde, Julie, Nathan and Andrew Perry of Manistee, Scot, Kris, Brittany and Scot Perry of Traverse City, Drew, Kathy and Blake Perry of Temecula, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews around the country.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Orban.
      Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Manistee with the Rev. Sally Schreiner officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
      The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Ginny consider a gift to either the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Manistee or to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service and at the funeral home.
      The Johnson Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - William M. Bright, 82, of Traverse City, died on Friday at Munson Medical Center.
      Born Aug. 8, 1918 in East Kasson Township, he was the son of Ora and Erma (Ross) Bright. On Oct. 15, 1942, in Traverse City, he married the former Juanita G. Diehl.
      Mr. Bright was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was a long time employee of Traverse City and most recently owned Oakridge Cycle Sales and Service. He enjoyed traveling and hunting.
      He is survived by his wife, Juanita; son, Rev. Gary (Marjorie) Bright of Holt; a daughter, Judy A. Ritter of Traverse City; a brother, Fred (Cleo) Bright of Traverse City; two sisters, Helen (Walter "Pete") Nelson and Marjorie (Willard Erickson), both of Traverse City; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
      Mr. Bright was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Madge Haywood; and brothers, Robert Bright and Gerald Milton Bright.
      A celebration of life will take place on Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene at 1 p.m. with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the time of service. The Rev. Rick Rice will be officiating. Burial will be in the East Kasson Township Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Church of the Nazarene.
