Fred L. Salzwedel
      Died November 6, 2001
      KINGSLEY - Fred L. Salzwedel, 91, of Kingsley, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at the Meadow Hill Care Facility.
      Fred was born in Manistee on March 4, 1910, the son of John and Ora (Irwin) Salzwedel.
      Fred is survived by his five nieces, Avalon (Owen) Coffell, Joyce (David) Edge, Shirley (Ralph) Sattler, Vivian (Ben) Cathcart and Janice (Buddie) Straub; and nephew, William Huhnke.
      Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Frank; brother, Robert; and sisters Olive Huhnke, Ruby Violet and Lillith.
      Fred will be missed greatly by his many friends and care givers both at Meadow Hill and the Community Mental Health Senior Support program.
      Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
      Arrangements were handled by the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
      Edwin J. Parker
      Died November 6, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Edwin J. Parker, 89, of Traverse City, died Tuesday morning at Tendercare.
      Born March 30, 1912, in Montcalm County, he was the son of Dewitt C. and Mildred M. (Pixley) Parker. On April 12, 1935, in Traverse City, he married the former Edna M. Bixby, who preceded him in death in 1982. Edwin married Mary Renico, who also preceded him in death.
      Mr. Parker moved to Traverse City in 1928, coming from Greenville. He was self-employed in sales and delivery with Archway Cookies, Hostess Cakes and several other baked goods, retiring in 1974 after 25 years.
      He was a member of the First Congregational Church for over 58 years and a member of Masons-High 12.
      Survivors include sons, Ronald (Camille) Parker of Traverse City, Donald C. (Carolyn) Parker of Bryceville, Fla.; sisters, Olive M. (Tom) Lucas of Newago, Beryl (Robert) Martin of Greenville, June (Sam) Naiemo of Venice, Fla.; step-children, Gene (Madiline) Renico, David (Sharon) Renico, Susan (Ken) Sawyer; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, William Duckwith; and many nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Edna; second wife, Mary; daughter, Leona C. Duckwith; brothers, Gilles, Aubrey, Robert and Raymond; and sisters, Bernice Parker and Alice Smith.
      Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. A Masonic Candlelight Service will be conducted by the Traverse City Lodge 222 of F & AM at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
      Funeral services will be at the First Congregational Church on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Sinclair officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Congregational Church.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      **FLAG** James L. Meredith
      Died November 2, 2001
      GROSSE POINTE WOODS - James L. Meredith, 82, of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001.
      Jim was the beloved husband of Jean; loving father of James, Barbara, Mary and Michael; grandfather of Nathan and Rebecca Hopkins and Michele Meredith; and brother of William.
      Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 4, and Monday, Nov. 5, at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, Grosse Pointe Woods, (313) 884-5500. A rosary was recited on Monday evening at the funeral home.
      A Funeral Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, in Harper Woods, was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, with visitation one half hour prior to the service. Interment was held at the Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.

      Died October 28, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Susan Leslie Luehr, 56, of Traverse City, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001.
      Susan was born in Crawfordsville, Ind., on March 29, 1945. She was a lifelong resident of the Traverse City area. She graduated from both Traverse City High School and Northwestern Michigan College. Susan was employed with the Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital, and most recently with Munson Medical Center as a registered nurse, working on the oncology unit.
      Susan is survived by her mother, Marie Luehr; and her son, Chris (Amy Shafer) Kozacek of Traverse City.
      Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday, Nov. 9, at the St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. James Gardiner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      Anna Mary Brozofsky
      Died November 5, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Anna Mary Brozofsky, 79, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at home Monday evening.
      She was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Traverse City, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Vodroin) Kropp, and had lived in the Traverse City area most all of her life.
      Anna was employed with the Setwell Mfg. company and later was retired from Fultz Mfg., a local die cutting business, where she had been a foreman. She attended church faithfully at First Baptist Church. Anna was a member of Church Women United and was recently elected by that group to receive their Valiant Woman Award. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her daughter and son-in-law.
      Anna is survived by her daughter and "favorite" son-in-law, Sarah and Gary Walter of Traverse City; and by her cherished friend, Jenny Wilsey, also of Traverse City. She was preceded in death by her parents.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 244 Washington Ave, Traverse City, with The Rev. Thomas Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
      Visitation will take place today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church, or to Munson Hospice.
      THOMAS ARTHUR CLARY, 52, of Fife Lake, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001.
      Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Yuba Cemetery in Acme.
      Arrangements are being handled by Wolfe Funeral Home of Kalkaska.
     
      SARAH LOU MURPHY, 61, of Manistee, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Herbert Funeral Home.
      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
