November 9, 2001ObituariesTRAVERSE CITY - Baldwin R. Terreault, 86, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Munson Medical Center. Formerly of Detroit, he had also been a summer resident of Suttons Bay and a winter resident of Clearwater, Fla. Baldwin retired as supervisor from the General Motors engineering shop in 1973, and moved to Traverse City. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Baldwin enjoyed helping people and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Valerie. Together, they had taken 13 cruises.Born Jan. 22, 1915, in Detroit, he was the son of August and Agnes (Cubiac) Terreault. On July 7, 1937, in Detroit, he married Valerie E. Oswald, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Roger (Genelle) Terreault of W. Lafayette, Ind., Gary (Laurie) Terreault of Dearborn Heights; seven granddaughters and two step-grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Sweet and Eleanore Pylman; two brothers, John and August; and a half-sister, Charlotte Dahlberg. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Gabel officiating. Friends may call at the church at the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. EARCHEL CLETIS BURMINGHAM, 70, of Beulah, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, with the Rev. Kenneth Blair officiating from the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Friends may call at the time of the services. ANN E. CRAPP, 91, of Traverse City, and formerly of Lansing, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001. Arrangements are pending with the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, in Lansing, (517) 482-1651. TRAVERSE CITY - Ardena Dezelsky, 86, of Traverse City, formerly of Hibbing, Minn., and Crystal, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Ardena was born in LeSueur, Minn., on Jan. 3, 1915, the daughter of William H. and Lydia A. (Gutzmer) Bode. A chef for 49 years, Ardena loved to cook, raise a garden, and can fruits and vegetables. She loved sewing, helping others, and being very good hearted, she will be remembered for always sharing whatever she raised, canned or cooked. Ardena was a member of the Church of the Living God. Survivors include her step-daughter, Dorothy Jean Rosinski of Traverse City; sister, Isabelle Nosan of Hibbing, Minn.; eight nieces; five nephews; and 45 cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, M.E. Rupright; second husband, Jake Dezelsky; and her three brothers, Lloyd Bode, Alray Bode and Clifford Bode. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in the spring of 2002. Arrangements were handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. TRAVERSE CITY - Rhoda Rammelkamp was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on September 10, 1908, the eldest child of the then president of Illinois College, Charles H. Rammelkamp and his wife, Jeannette (Capps) Rammelkamp. Rhoda passed away at her home, 2877 Old Mission Rd., Traverse City, Michigan 49686, on November 6, 2001. She attended Jacksonville public schools and graduated from the Northwood School, Greenfield, Massachusetts. She then attended Illinois College where she studied classical Greek, graduating in 1929. After a tour abroad to Germany, Greece, Turkey and France, she returned to the USA and obtained a master's degree from the School of Drama at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. In college Rhoda had performed in several Shakespearian plays, and in graduate school she continued to act. She also designed stage sets at the Yale Drama School. During the Great Depression, she also worked as a costume designer in New York City, especially for the Federal Theater Project, where she met her husband, Harold Bolton. After World War II, Rhoda served first as a teacher and later as vice principal at the Bellefaire School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She lived in East Cleveland with her husband, Harold, and her son, Philip. Upon retirement, she moved to the Old Mission Peninsula on Grand Traverse Bay in the northern part of the southern peninsula of Michigan. Her husband, Harold, predeceased her and she leaves surviving her son, Philip Bolton of London, England; and one brother, Theodore Rammelkamp of Jacksonville, Illinois. In her early years, Rhoda was an actress and stage designer; in her middle years she was a teacher and administrator; in her later years she became an accomplished water color painter. She was an avid birder for many years. Her love of wildflowers, wildlife, the forest and the sky distinguished her sense of the world; her gentle affection for people endowed her with a distinctive character. She was and continues to be a role model for all of us. Remembrance memorials may be made to Illinois College, 1101 West College Ave., Jacksonville, Illinois, or to the Old Mission Conservancy, Traverse City, Michigan.
