**FLAG** Dan Pitsenberger
      November 10, 2001
      SOUTH BOARDMAN - Dan Pitsenberger, 67, of South Boardman, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Dan was born in Hazel Park on Jan. 31, 1934, the son of Ray and Estelle (Schrock) Pitsenberger. Dan married Patricia Beckman in Auburn, Ind., on Feb. 11, 1956.
      Dan and his wife moved to Royal Oak, but for the last five years have made their home in South Boardman. Dan served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post #463 in South Boardman, and the VFW Post #01669 of Royal Oak. Dan was also a member of the United Methodist Church of South Boardman.
      Dan is survived by his loving family including his wife of 45 years, Pat; his son, Keith (Kim) Keil of Troy; his brother, Fredrick Pitsenberger of Chicago; his sister, Roseanna (Phil) Smith of Fostoria, Mich.; and his grandson, Shane.
      Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Ralph Pitsenberger.
      A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

      ESSIE FRANCES ANDERSON, 94, of Onekama, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
      Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, with Dr. Roger Sherwood officiating. The Terwilliger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
     
      IRMA L. GILLESPIE-CALLESEN, 86, of Manistee, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the home of her son.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Manistee.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Manistee.

      EMILY M. HOXIE, 87, of Onekama, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.
      No services or visitation are planned.

      FRANCES LILLIAN JOLLIFFE, 90, of Banks Township, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Charlevoix Area Hospital.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Norwood United Methodist Church.

      LOUISE M. MCLENITHAN, 66, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, 2001, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending with the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      THOMAS J. STRZYZEWSKI, 59, of Manistee, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home in Manistee.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee.
      Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
     
      JOHN DAVID WILLIAMS, 57, of Tacoma, Wash., and formerly of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Madigan Veterans Hospital in Tacoma.

      Edna "May" Lumley
      Died November 1, 2001
      OSCODA - Edna "May" Lumley, 77, of Oscoda, our angel on earth, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001.
      May was born on Dec. 24, 1923 in Deckerville. She married Roger Lumley in 1944 and together they had three children. She was the best, a loving wife, mom, and grandma.
      May is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roger Lumley of Oscoda; her daughters, Terry Matheson of Pine Island, Fla., and Jane Sage of Traverse City; her son, James Lumley of Traverse City; grandchildren, Brayton and Sarah Matheson, and Marty and Becca Sage, and Kirstin and Kacie Lumley. We will miss her so.

      Died November 12, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Carmen Ana Holstein, 70, of Traverse City, died Tuesday at home after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
      Born May 11, 1931 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Francisco and Felicita (Alvarado) Benitez. On Jan. 1, 1956 at Our Lady of the Angels Church in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she married Julian "Curtis" Holstein who survives.
      Mrs. Holstein enjoyed crafts, gardening and sewing of all sorts, including sewing the wedding dresses for her five daughters and baptismal gowns. She loved baking and will be fondly remembered for sharing her baked goods with family, friends and anyone in need. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother and will be greatly missed. Along with her husband, Curtis, she is survived by her daughters, Alma Piazza of Traverse City, Ellen (Scott) Haynes of San Diego, Joanna (Ken) Lastafka of Parma, Ohio, Carleen (Michael) Spellicy of Traverse City, Doreen Holstein of Traverse City; sisters, Mercedes B. Velazco of Puerto Rico, Frances B. Gonzalez of Puerto Rico, Armida (John) Chemello of Traverse City; brother, Hector (Edna) Benitez of Puerto Rico; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Guillermina B. Rivera and Eufracia Benitez.
      Visitation will be at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
      A Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Father James Hayden will be serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, c/o Pancreatic Cancer Research; Hospice House, or Mass Intentions.
      Inez Opal Hughes
      Died November 12, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Inez Opal Hughes, 96, of Traverse City, and formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Munson Medical Center.
      She is survived locally by her daughter, Joyce Braithwait Brickley.
      Memorial services will be held at a later date in Charlotte.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Charlotte Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

      **FLAG** Charles H. Gaudette
      Died November 11, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Charles H. Gaudette, 70, a Traverse City resident for the last 35 years, and formerly of Detroit, died suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Munson Medical Center.
      Charles was born in Jackson, Miss. on May 16, 1931, the son of Walter and Geraldine (Davis) Gaudette. On Sept. 15, 1984 in Traverse City, he married the former Betty Rolston.
      Mr. Gaudette served his country honorably with the U.S. Army, was a member of a Masonic Lodge, and was formerly employed with the Traverse City Record-Eagle and United Technologies. His passion was his art, and along with his wife, Betty, they enjoyed exhibiting his work in various art shows throughout Michigan.
      Along with his wife, Betty, Mr. Gaudette is also survived by his step daughters, Stacey Coleman of Seney, and Kerry Johannsen of Lake Ann; five wonderful grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Beverly Gaudette of Omena; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents.
      Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens on Monday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.
