HOPKINS, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society, or to the Munson Inpatient Cancer Unit. TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Edward Taylor died suddenly at home Friday. Born in Traverse City on July 16, 1941, he attended St. Francis School and participated in varsity sports. After receiving his degree in Hotel Management from Michigan State University, he began his career with the newly established Holiday Inn in Traverse City. When Bob was a member of the Holiday Inn's management team, it received the Top Ten in the World Award. He later was the owner of his own restaurants, and had restaurants in both Niles and Traverse City. Most recently, he had been a Realtor/broker in Venice, Fla., and was a member of the Elks Lodge there. He moved back to Traverse City to help care for his father and was a Realtor for Real Estate One. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mary G. (Weber) Taylor, in 1986, and his father, Francis A. Taylor, in 1999. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and he loved hunting with his son, Quint, brother, Dan, and nephew, Kerry, which he did even on the day he died. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great-nephews, Dan and Bob Taylor. Surviving is son, Quintin (Kelly) Taylor of Clewiston, Fla.; daughter, Whitney (Joe) Meyer of New York; the mother of his children, the former Cecilia Merrit; brothers, Dan Taylor of Traverse City and Larry (Noreen) Taylor of Leesburg, Fla.; sisters, Phyllis (Dick) Gertz of Traverse City and Carol (David) Ketner of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Morgan and Tiffany Taylor and Taylor, Ashley, and Cecilia Meyer; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., and a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Rev. James Gardiner will serve as celebrant. Burial will take place in Grawn Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation, L.O.V.E., Inc., or to Mass Intentions. |
