Barbara G. Muncey
      Died October 13, 2001
      ELK RAPIDS - Barbara G. Muncey, 80, of Elk Rapids, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died peacefully at her home Saturday morning.
      Born Oct. 8, 1921, in Detroit, she was the daughter of James B. and Ethel (Duckett) Baubie. On July 13, 1946, in Detroit, she married James A. Muncey, who survives.
      A graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, Barbara continued to be actively involved with her high school sorority, Alpha Tau Beta. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids, where she was a lifetime participant of the choir, a member of the Altar Guild, and Daughters of the King. Barbara was also a member of the Elk Rapids Garden Club, and Friends of the Library. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
      Along with her loving husband James A. Muncey, she is also survived by her four children, Mark (Cindy) Muncey of Rayhnam, Mass., Thomas (Dianne) Muncey of West Yarmouth, Mass., Kim (David) Tooker of Traverse City and JoAnne (Timothy) Potvin of Clinton; sister, Frances Bloetscher of Royal Oak; six grandchildren, Erica Muncey of West Yarmouth, Mass., Michael (Sarah) Muncey of New Hampshire, Joshua Tooker and Sarah Tooker, both of Traverse City, Alex Potvin and Jenna Potvin, both of Clinton; two nieces; and one nephew.
      Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
      She will be profoundly missed here on earth, but we celebrate the joy of her new life with Christ.
      A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, (on the corner of Traverse and Spruce) in Elk Rapids on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. with visitation at the time of service. The Rev. Catherine Woods Richardson will officiate.
      Internment will take place in St. Paul's Church Columbarium.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or donations of blood to the Northwest Michigan Blood Program in remembrance of Barbara G. Muncey.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      Florence M. Malone
      Died October 12, 2001
      ANN ARBOR - Florence M. Malone, of Ann Arbor, passed away on Friday at Arbor Hospice Residence.
      She was born in St. Paul, Minn. on Sept. 12, 1907, she moved to Michigan in 1948. Mrs. Malone retired from The University of Michigan School of Public Health.
      She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Lou) Weindorf of Traverse City and Patricia Devine of Ann Arbor. She is also survived by five grandsons, including John (Julia) Weindorf of Traverse City; and eight grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas W. Devine and her grandson, Thomas W. Devine Jr.
      At her request, cremation has taken place.
      Memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

      Julia Dominguez Hoopfer
      Died October 8, 2001
      SEBASTIAN, Fla. - Julia Hoopfer, 57, of Sebastian, Fla., died on Monday at her home after a prolonged illness.
      She was born July 30, 1944, in Salvatierras de Mino, Pontevedra, Spain and moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina at age 6.
      Julia married Jim Hoopfer of the Elk Rapids area in 1974 in Charlevoix. The couple raised two children while living in Defiance, Ohio, St. Petersburg, Fla. and Cadillac.
      Mrs. Hoopfer was a Certified Pharmacy Technician and worked in Cadillac's Mercy Hospital before a move to Florida in March 2000.
      Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Jim Hoopfer of Sebastian, Fla.; son, Eric Dominguez Hoopfer of Palo Alto, Calif.; daughter, Marianisa Ines Hoopfer of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; mother, Leonisa Dominguez; sisters; Marines Domingues de Loscalzo and Elidia Dominguez all of Buenos Aires, Argentina; in-laws are Glen and Marge Hoopfer; brother, Bill Hoopfer of Williamsburg; and sister, Ann Hoopfer of Suttons Bay.
      A Memorial Service was held Oct. 11 at the Struck Funeral Home in Sebastian, Fla.
      The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Julia Hoopfer.
      Maria Rose Gonda
      Died October 12, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Maria Rose Gonda, 9 months, of Traverse City, died on Friday at her home.
      She was born on Dec. 25, 2000, the daughter of Michael Anthony Still and Jacqueline Ann Gonda.
      She is survived by her brother, Shane; grandparents, Gerald (Beverly) Gonda and Robert (Mildred) Still; uncles, Chris, Geoffrey, John, Rickey, Duke and Charlie; and aunts, Julie, Jennifer, Laurie, Connie, Donna and Pam.
      She was preceded in death by her grandparent, Robert Coleman.
      Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
      A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Gills Pier with Rev. Reynoldo Garcia officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Right To Life.
      Robert L. "Bob" Averill
      Died October 5, 2001
      TRAVERSE CITY - Robert L. "Bob" Averill, 50, of Traverse City, died on Friday, Oct. 5 2001, at his home.
      Born May 5, 1951, in Terre Haute, Ind., he is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Averill of Zanesville, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Kurt Dittmar of Nashport, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Pam Averill of Saginaw, Mich.; nieces; and a nephew.
      Bob was preceded in death by his father, Dale M. Averill.
      A memorial service was held on Oct. 8, 2001, at First Christian Church in Zanesville, Ohio.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodwill Inn of Traverse City, c/o Lois Lannin, First Christian Church, 3686 S. Airport Rd. W., Traverse City, MI 49684.
      Funeral arrangements were handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with burial held at Copley Cemetery, Copley, Ohio.
      Ruth I. Kniss
      Died October 14, 2001
      KALKASKA - Ruth I. Kniss, 80, of Kalkaska, passed away Sunday at home surrounded by her loving family.
      She was born in Clare on Jan. 12, 1921, to Henry and Ila (Sieting) Six. Ruth married Boyd C. Kniss on May 22, 1939.
      Ruth is survived by her husband, Boyd; sons, Lyle Kniss of Kalkaska, Milton (Christine) Kniss of Bellaire, Richard (Christine) Kniss of Niles; daughter, Ila (Christopher) Rosselit of Niles; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Leo (Sharon) Six of Niles; and sisters, Beatrice Campbell of Kalkaska, Vada Bloom of Oscoda and Zora Belcher of Arizona.
      Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Arlo F. Six in 1945.
      Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David L. McCool officiating. Interment will be at Oliver Township Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made in behalf of Ruth Kniss to Oliver Township Cemetery.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      Dorothy J. Davis
      Died October 14, 2001
      KALKASKA - Dorothy J. Davis, 68, of Kalkaska, passed away on Sunday at home surrounded by her loving family.
      She was born on July 3, 1933, in Detroit, to Guy and Minnie (Horning) Raymond.
      Dorothy married Bertrand Davis on Nov. 3, 1951. She worked for Crafthouse and retired after 20 years of service.
      Dorothy is survived by sons, Bertrand Leroy Davis, Jr. of Kalkaska, Robert (Peg) of Kent City; daughters, Mary Ann Fender of South Boardman, Shirley Davis of Kalkaska; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elta Mae, Ruth and Mary; brothers, Elmer, John, Neil, Skip and George.
      Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Bertrand in 1992; son, Allen Bret Davis in 1965; grandsons, Bertrand L. Davis III and Ronald J. Davis; and brothers, Bob and Kenny.
      Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      The funeral service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. with Pastor Paul Karges of the Peoples Church officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made in behalf of Dorothy Davis to Munson Hospice.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      GRANELLA SMITH, 90, of Traverse City, died Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at her home.
      Interment will be in Montrose with a family graveside service which is pending.
      The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
      DOROTHY A. CURTIS, 93, of Kalkaska, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital.
      A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
      JOYCE FRANCIS ROOSSIEN OCHS, 63, of Traverse City, died Monday morning at home.
      Arrangements are pending at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
