No services are planned. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire. MARY LOUISE SMITH, 78, of Beulah, passed away at her residence on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001. Arrangements are being handled by the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home of Beulah. ROBERT H. KORN, 76, of Boyne City, formerly of Traverse City, died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001. Visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stachus Funeral Home in Boyne City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Boyne City. Clifford "Duffy" Kidder Died October 25, 2001 TRAVERSE CITY - Clifford "Duffy" Kidder, 88, of Traverse City since 1981, moving from Cadillac, died on Thursday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on Oct. 20, 1913, in Cadillac, the son of Arthur and Idellia (Jenett) Kidder. Duffy was a machinist, retiring from Wedin Corporation in Cadillac after 30 years of employment. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Clara (DeHaven) Kidder of Traverse City; one daughter, Idella "Tootie" (Joe) Corden of Traverse City; two brothers, Mancle Kidder of Grosse Pointe Woods and Merriel (Mildred) Kidder of Flint and Florida; three sisters, Ellen Schmidt of Cadillac, Shirley Torrenga of Muskegon and Sharon (Gene) Roe of Michigan; two grandchildren, Patricia (David) Weathers of Traverse City and Joseph (Dineen) Corden of Plano, Texas; six great-grandchildren, John, Marcy, Paige, Darren, Isabel and Bellahna Weathers; many nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Dora Kidder of Cadillac; one brother-in-law, Gloyd Money of Michigan; three stepdaughters, Judy (Tom) Reese of Destin, Fla., Sally (Jay) Beery and Mary (Bob) Smith, both of Traverse City; one stepson, William (Kathy) Weber of Traverse City; eight step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Drobny; five brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson, Luke Weathers. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Thomas Mansfield officiating. Interment will be in the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the 1st Baptist Church, 244 Washington St., Traverse City, MI 49684 or the American Cancer Society. **FLAG** George Irvin Schlegel, Sr. Died October 29, 2001 DUMFRIES, Va. - George Irvin Schlegel Sr., 88, a long time resident of Dumfries, Va., died on Monday of heart failure. George had served for four years with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1930 to 1934. He is survived by nine children and their spouses, William and Darlene Schlegel of Cahokia, Ill., George Schlegel Jr. of Triangle, Va., Stanley and Claudia Schlegel of Dumfries, Va., Barbara Ruths of Triangle, Va., Rose Marie and John Webb of Dumfries, Va., Bruce and Shirley Schlegel of Stafford, Va., Robert and Mary Schlegel of Bristow, Va., Jo Anne and Ken Ramage of Dumfries, Va., Claralynn and Gary Weisbrod of Woodbridge, Va.; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Gladys C. Schlegel and one son, Harry Benton Schlegel. There will be a celebration of George Schlegel's life for all friends and family at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday at Triangle Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from noon until the service time. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Quantico National Cemetery. Patricia "Patt" Fortine Died October 28, 2001 WICHITA, Kan. - Patricia "Patt" Fortine, 60, of Wichita, Kan., died on Sunday. She was born on Dec. 30, 1940, in Traverse City, to Donald L. and Josephine E. (Edenburn) Herren. Patt was a Woodchucks secretary and bookkeeper. She loved bowling at Seneca Bowl and sewing. She is survived by her husband, Leon of Wichita, Kan.; sons, Rex of Derby, Kan. and Terry of Goddard, Kan.; daughters, Kimbray Nunnold of Rose Hill, Kan. and Kathryn Epp of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Sharon K. Bonney of Beulah; 9 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Leon Jr. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kan. Arrangements are being handled by the Resthaven Mortuary and Cemetery in Wichita, Kan. Josephine L. Jones Died October 11, 2001 ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Josephine L. Jones, 79, of Orange Beach, Ala., formerly of Traverse City, passed away on Thursday at her home in Orange Beach, Ala. She was a teacher for many years with the Traverse City Public School system. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George E. Jones Jr.; sons, George (Gej) E. Jones III (Sally) of East Lansing; Charles L. Jones (Anne) of Owosso; daughter, Dorothy Jones (Brian Watson) of Seattle; three grandchildren, Brandy, Jamie and Charles G. Jones.
