The Oak Grove Cremation Center is in charge of funeral arrangements. RITA MAY (HUNTER) LARDIE, 88, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home, Traverse City. A complete obituary will appear in Tuesday's edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle. CARROLL "BUCKO" WICINSKI, 85, of Manistee, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. Visitation will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee. Following cremation, final interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Manistee. Richard Paul Dingman Died July 25, 2002 GULF SHORES, Ala. - Richard Paul Dingman, 81, of Gulf Shores, Ala., and formerly of Traverse City, passed away at his home July 25, 2002. Richard was born in Fremont Aug. 26, 1920, and was raised and schooled in that community. He became a member of the 685th CCC camp in Alston. Following his graduation in 1937, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for nine years, seeing action in Panama and the European Theatre during World War II. Richard was awarded the Purple Heart and received a Good Conduct Medal. He learned the art of carpentry while attending the CCC camp, made it his life's work, and was a very skilled craftsman in his trade. He enjoyed a variety of activities, loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Richard is survived by his three children, Richard D. (Karen D.) Dingman of Maple City, Dawn L. (Michael) Knickerbocker-Fisher of Lake Leelanau and Deborah L. (Pat) Dingman-Aldrich of Gulf Shores, Ala.; their mother, Virginia O. Knickerbocker of Gulf Shores, Ala.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; his sister, Doris (Dingman) Fritz of Lillian, Ala., his brother, Robert Dingman of Cleveland, Ohio, and his half sister, Julia (Elmer) Dingman-Hammond of Traverse City. A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, at the home of Charles E. Fritz, 11983 Richardson Rd., Lake Ann, (231) 275-7153. Thomas "Higgy" Higgins Died August 11, 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - Thomas "Higgy" Higgins, 73, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002. He was born in Detroit on June 14, 1929, the son of Francis and Mary (O'Riley) Higgins. A retired carpenter, Mr. Higgins was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was the friend, companion and mate for 20 years to Bobbie Derks of Traverse City. He is also survived by his daughters, Karen (Dave) Brisbois of Rochester, Beverly (Gary) Godziebiewski of Kingsley and Janice (Tom) Baker of Buckley; sons, Thomas (Paula) Higgins of Rochester, Daniel (Becky) Higgins of Muskegon and Patrick Higgins of Norfolk, Va.; Missy Derks of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline Higgins in 1981; granddaughter, Joelle Godziebiewski; and his brother, Jim Higgins.
