ROBERT B. BRANNAN, 72, of Gainesville, Fla., and formerly of Kalkaska, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at his Florida home.
      Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, from noon to 1 p.m. and followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Burial will be in the Lodi Cemetery.
      A complete obituary will appear in the Monday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

      KATHRINE F. KELLOGG, 89, of Manistee, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at home.
      Cremation will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center of Manistee is serving the family.
     
      JOAN H. LAPAN, 71, of Kingsley, died Saturday morning, Nov. 30, 2002, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Arrangements will be announced by the Covell-Smith Funeral Home of Kingsley.
     
      DEWITT VOLNEY 'GRUMPY' MCCREA, 72 of Traverse City, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      Arrangements are pending with the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
     
      MICHAEL ANTHONY MERRITT JR., 34, of South Boardman, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002.
      Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Wolfe Funeral Home.
     
      JOHN D. MILLER, 60, of Irons in Manistee County, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Tendercare in Ludington.
      Complete funeral arrangements will be announced later. Cremation will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      The Oak Grove Cremation Center of Manistee is serving the family.
     
      CLINTON A. SEVERANCE, 87, of Cadillac, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor.
      Cremation will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
      Memorial services will be held in the spring of 2003.
      The Edwards-Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is serving the family.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Anthony "Tony" Boomer, 34, of Traverse City, tragically lost his life in a cabin fire early Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 2002, in Munising.
      He was born June 21, 1968, in Traverse City, to Gordon W. and Mary M. (Cox) Boomer. Tony married the former Sheila Mathison on Sept. 8, 1990, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme.
      Tony was employed in the family business as a refrigeration and HVAC technician with Bud's Refrigeration, Inc. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Eagles Aries #383, the National Rifle Association, the Michigan Charter Boat Association and the Grand Traverse Sports Fishing Association. He was captain of the Merityme Charter Boat which he chartered out of East Bay Harbor. Tony was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He was also a superior chef who loved cooking.
      He had a fantastic personality, a beautiful smile and dimples which his daughter Kaytie inherited. Tony was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed.
      Tony is survived by his wife, Sheila Kay Boomer of Traverse City; two daughters, Leslie and Kaytie Boomer both at home; his parents, Gordon "Bud" and Mary "Peggy" Boomer of Traverse City; his four brothers, Thomas J. (Julie) Boomer, Timothy W. (Lynda) Boomer, Ted A. (Sandie) Boomer and Troy J. Boomer all of Traverse City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
      He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and by his brother, Todd G. Boomer in 1979.
      Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme, with the Rev. Edwin Thome serving as celebrant. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
      Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Boomer Children's Educational Fund at 5/3 Bank, Holiday Road Branch, Traverse City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      BEULAH - Claude Edward Foust, 77, of Beulah, and formerly of Ferndale, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his residence surrounded by his family.
      He was born May 12, 1925, in Andersonville, Tenn., the son of Elijah and Sarah (Landrum) Foust. Claude was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #216 in Milford, and the VFW Post in Lake City, Tenn.
      Claude had been a truck driver, working for Kramer Brothers Trucking in Detroit and Brada Miller Trucking in Detroit. He enjoyed working with his hands and especially in his garden. Claude loved hunting and fishing but most of all he loved being with his family.
      Claude is survived by his wife, Margaret Foust of Royal Oak; five children, David (Regina) Foust of Waterford, Donna (Edmund) Sadowski of Rochester Hills, Thomas (Mary) Foust of Beulah, Debra (Neil) Leithauser of Troy, and Jennifer Foust of Cookville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, David (Heidi) Foust, Daniel (Katie) Foust, Melissa (Robert) Feeters, Natalie Lyons, Laura Sadowski, Patricia Sadowski, Anthony Leithauser and Evan Leithauser; three great-grandchildren, Cody Foust, Tyler Foust and Claire Feeters; and several nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
      Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
      Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City, Tenn. later this week.
     
      WYOMING - Charles J. "Carl" Nink Sr., 87, of Wyoming, Mich., and formerly of Traverse City, passed away at his home Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2002.
      He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Nink.
      Carl is survived by his wife, Ethelda "Nancy" Nink; his children, Charles J. Nink Jr. and John Mack Nink; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; his brother, Edwin Nink; sister-in-law, Barbara Nink; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date.

      LAKE ANN - Russell E. Riddle, 75, of Lake Ann, died Wednesday at home.
      Born Sept. 4, 1927, in Wilkinsburg, Pa. he was the son of William Sommerville and Iva (Cook) Riddle. On Nov. 12, 1952, in Richmond, Va., he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Abel, who survives.
      Mr. Riddle served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy. He had been employed as a production supervisor, retiring from Cadillac Motors after many years. Mr. Riddle was a member of the VFW and Eagles and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
      Other survivors include his sons, Bill (Debbie) Riddle of Howell, Dave (Maribeth) Riddle of Blaine, Wash., and Mark (Lisa) Riddle of Garden City, Fla.; his daughter, Mary Anne (Dana) Ives of Export, Pa; sister, Fran (Walt) Ward of Holiday Park, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
      Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by his parents.
      Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
