Obituaries

LAKE ANN - Joan Hermina LaPan, 71, of Lake Ann, previously of Kingsley, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.
      She was born in Delphos, Ohio, on Jan. 28, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Frances (Goergens) Langmeyer.
      Joan was a homemaker who liked cooking for her family and going to the beach. She also enjoyed dancing, bingo and her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church.
      Joan is survived by her daughter, Laura (Dennis) Jensen of Laurel, Miss.; sons, David (Susan) LaPan of Manton, Mark (Sheila) LaPan of Lake Ann and John (Suzie) LaPan of Laurel, Miss.; sister, Mary Ann Iott of Deerfield; brother, Leonard Langmeyer of West Branch; and 14 grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jerry LaPan.
      Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
      The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, at St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Church in Kingsley, with Father Wladyslaw Marczynski serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's of Hannah Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPan family.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell-Smith Funeral Home, Kingsley.
      GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Robert Bernard Brannan, 72, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away at his home Nov. 30, after a long illness.
      Mr. Brannan was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church of Gainesville and Rapid City. He spent many hours working with the Royal Rangers programs at the churches and as a member of the church boards. He was also a longtime board member of the Women's Resource Center of Gainesville until his health would no longer allow him to continue his service.
      He retired from Bear Archery after 31 years of service. His hobbies included woodworking, candy-making and gardening. His greatest interest was a close and loving relationship with his family.
      Mr. Brannan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; their children, Daniel of Traverse City, Bethany (Dennis) McLimans of Sumter, S.C., David (Carol) of Grayling, Darrell (Suzanne) of Micanopy, Fla., and Susan Granade of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Connie) of Hemet, Calif.; and two sisters, Norma (Cid) Abraham of Burton and Shirley Smith of Spencer, Ind.
      Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Wolfe Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the time of service. Interment will be in Lodi Cemetery.
      In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be directed to the Royal Rangers program, First Assembly of God Church, 2925 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32605, or the Women's Resource Center, P.O. Box 357625, Gainesville, FL 32635.

      BELDING - Florence M. "Betty" McCoy, 55, of Belding, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, in Kingsley.
      She was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Belding.
      She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Korinna L. and Daniel Snider of Kingsley, Angel A. Brown and fiancé Joshua Fanning of Lansing; sons, Jerry J. Brown of Ionia and Darcey F. Brown and fianceé Gequiptia Roberts of Orleans; sisters and brothers, Rita, Kathryn, Ellen, Walter and Mike; grandchildren, Chelsea and Zachary Snider; and four step-children.
      Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huffman Funeral Home in Belding.
      Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery.
      FORREST N. LIVASY, 77, of Traverse City, died Saturday evening, Nov. 30, 2002, at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
      Arrangements are pending at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
