December 8, 2002ObituariesTRAVERSE CITY - Shirley M. Thomas, 67, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Dec. 5, at home.Formerly of Muskegon, she had been a resident of Traverse City since 1975. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of North Muskegon High School. For several years she had worked at the NMC bookstore, the Dennos Museum gift shop, and the University Center in Traverse City. She enjoyed reading and gardening. Born July 28, 1935, in Muskegon, she was the daughter of Allen and Elizabeth (Wicker) Fox. On June 4, 1954, in Muskegon, she married Robert L. Thomas, who preceded her in death in October 1997. Surviving are five sons, Brad Thomas of Traverse City, Robert (Cristy) Thomas of Traverse City, Bruce (Irene) Thomas of Grayling, Todd Thomas of Traverse City and Tracy (Jodi) Thomas of Midland; three sisters; seven grandchildren, Joyce, David, Tony, Maddie, Audrey, Rachel and Zachary; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and several brothers and sisters. A time for celebrating Shirley's life will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Center of The Town and Country Park at 849 Manor Lane, in Traverse City. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. GEORGIA LOUISE FREDERICKSON, 77, of Frankfort, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes. DENNIS A. MYATT, 51, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, aboard the ship on which he was employed near Duluth, Minn. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. |
