SUTTONS BAY - Dorothy Louise Symons, 93, of Suttons Bay, died Thursday, Dec. 5, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
      Born in Troy, Ill., on July 1, 1909, Dorothy was the daughter of Henry Christian and Louise (Kueker) Horstman. She married Clayton John Symons on April 23, 1936, in Detroit.
      Dorothy's whole life was devoted to church activities. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay. She made the best raspberry pies in Suttons Bay, and enjoyed embroidering.
      She is survived by her daughter, Dottie (Jim) Brenner of Beverly Hills, four grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Symons, in February 2002; and two daughters, Joan and Judy.
      Friends may call today, Monday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul G. Kuhlman officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Share Care of Leelanau County.
      FRANKFORT - Cecelia Mollie (Anderson) Ericksen, 96, of Frankfort, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      She was born June 29, 1906, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Charles and Mollie (Olsen) Anderson. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to South Manitou Island where they lived for 13 years. After moving to Frankfort with her family, Cecelia was employed by Classens Shoppe, a mercantile store, and later was employed as a clerk at Kennedy's Dress Shop. On June 21, 1933, Cecelia married Edward C. Ericksen.
      Cecelia was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir for many years and was active in the Dorcas Circle. She was also a charter member of the Aux Bec Scies Study Club.
      She was admired and loved by her family and many friends. Cecelia was always able to find the good in every person. New families were welcomed into the neighborhood with a plate of her homemade cookies for which she was well known. Her strength of character has been an example for all.
      Cecelia is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edward C. Ericksen; two daughters, Sharon McKinley and Barbara (Roger) Johnson both of Frankfort; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, AnnaBelle Hausen of Vista, Calif.; two brothers, Thames (Shirley) Anderson of Frankfort and Robert (Betty) Anderson of Traverse City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Kay Carlson; six brothers, Harold, Albany, Charles, Haakon, John and Arno; and two sisters, Magdalean Stolson and Carol Steeger.
      Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McElduff Funeral Home in Frankfort.
      Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfort. A luncheon will be provided following the service.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church for either the Dorcas Circle or the Choir Fund.

      GEORGE W. "BILL" BLAKE, 60, of Bellaire, died Saturday evening, Dec. 7, 2002, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
      Family members will meet with friends and relatives, Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11.
     
      AGNES M. BUCHOLTZ, 93, of Manistee, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Manistee Medical Care Facility.
      Visitation will take place, Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Herbert Funeral Home, P.C., in Manistee.
      Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
     
      ROBERT JOSEPH FURTAW, 78, of Rapid City, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
      Arrangements are pending at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      HENRY SEDLACEK, 77, of Kingsley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Veterans Hospital in Grand Rapids.
      Visitation will take place, Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.
      Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11.
     
      ALMA L. WEBER, 74, of Kingsley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.

      ANTHONY EDWARD "TONY" WILHELM, 76, of Kingsley, died Saturday evening, Dec. 7, 2002, at his home.
