'BETTY' KREUTZIGER, 80, of Traverse City, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. CONRAD S. ROSKOSKI, 64, of Manistee, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002. Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, with an Evening Prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow the Mass in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. Marjorie A. Deyarmond Died December 3, 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - Marjorie A. Deyarmond, 75, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Detroit, the daughter of Harold F. and Grace R. (Cramer) Peden. A commercial artist by profession, Marjorie had been employed in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Mt. Morris, prior to her retirement. She was also a former member of the Detroit Press Club. Marjorie is survived by her son, Michael John Deyarmond of California; and by her stepbrother, Kenneth Timm of Traverse City. Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home today from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Daisy Faye Dinsmore Died December 11, 2002 NORTHPORT - Daisy Faye Dinsmore, 86, of Northport, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her home. The oldest of 10 children, Faye was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Northport, to Fredrick and Daisy (Nelson) Baumberger. After graduation from Northport High School, Faye was employed as a telephone operator in Northport and as a nanny for children of the Rev. Cermak in East Jordan. On June 3, 1938, she married Milo G. Dinsmore. Together the couple farmed and raised poultry and produce which they sold along delivery routes to Northport Point. Milo preceded Faye in death on Jan. 14, 1970. Following his death, Faye was employed in the dietary department of Leelanau Memorial Hospital for 17 years, retiring at the age of 70. Faye was a member of Trinity Church, served as a former secretary for the Northport Farm Bureau and was a volunteer for the Northport Rescue Squad. She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne (Edward) Potoczak of Goetzville, and Donna (Albert) Allington of Suttons Bay; seven grandchildren, Mary Carman of Endicott, N.Y., Stephen Potoczak of Syracuse, N.Y., Martha (Gerald) Weckel of Whitney Point, N.Y., Patricia (Gregory) Shirhall of Richford, N.Y., Aaron (Janice) Allington of Traverse City, Trine (Daniel) Matey of Traverse City, and Nathan Allington of Suttons Bay; and eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Carman of Vestal, N.Y., Marlene, Stephanie and John Potoczak of Syracuse, N.Y., Brianna Weckel of Whitney Point, N.Y., and Nathan and Meghan Nemec of Traverse City; Faye is also survived by five sisters, Mary Firehammer of Niles, Carol (Frank) Hagen of Celina, Ohio, Trudy (Robert) Lewis of Ann Arbor, Sue (Richard) Hanson of Northport, and Martha (Carlyle) Roberts of Northport; one brother, Noel (Marie) Baumberger of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Faye was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Walter; and her sister, Phyllis. Friends may call Friday, Dec. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church in Northport, with the Rev. William Belko officiating. Interment will be in Leelanau Township Cemetery in the spring of 2003. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Faye Dinsmore Memorial Scholarship Fund for culinary arts. Arrangements by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. Rachel M. Franke Died December 11, 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - Rachel M. Franke, 80, of Traverse City, died Wednesday at Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Traverse City to Paul M. and Genieve (Spoor) Meyers. On Sept. 1, 1941, in Long Lake Township, she married Robert L. Franke, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Amanda Geiger, Robert (Laura) Franke Jr., Terri (Lawrence) Smith, all of Traverse City, and Jeffrey (Shannon) Franke of Canton; one sister, Marion (Norman) Gruber of Traverse City; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrna Ford and Phylis Simmons; two brothers, Art and Henry Meyers. Private family services are being held. A time to celebrate Rachel's life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Rachel and Robert's home, 876 Woodcreek Blvd., in Traverse City. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are being handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Ruth E. Gardner Died December 10, 2002 MAPLE CITY - Ruth Elaine Gardner, passed away Dec. 10, 2002, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. Ruth was born in Flint on Feb. 23, 1924, to Roy V. and Fern Woodrow Ormond. On Oct. 25, 1946, she married Paul M. Gardner in Traverse City. Together they had three children, Michael, Thomas (Barb Zupin) and Katie (Dave) Taberski, affectionately known as Mully, Bit and Kitty. Ruth is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Ormond and Ann Engebretsen. Ruth served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego. At her request, there will be no services and cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Rd., Traverse City, MI 49686, where she found her loyal companion, Buttercup. Buell Wesley Kellogg Died December 5, 2002 SALINE - Buell Wesley Kellogg, 89, of Saline, died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002. He was born Jan. 4, 1913, in Wexford County, the son of John Phillip and Vera Mae (Dixon) Kellogg. Buell graduated from Buckley High School. He and Anne M. Fischer were married in Ann Arbor on Oct. 8, 1932. The couple just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Buell had experience in a variety of careers which included employed with the Ford Motor Company for 17 years, farming and several entrepreneurial ventures. He retired in 1982 from Xerox-UMI in Ann Arbor where he had been employed for 15 years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Farm Bureau Arnold Lake Group, and the Saline Area Historical Society. His grandchildren were an immense joy to him. He loved them so very much. Buell is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anne Kellogg of Saline; three children, Faye (Frank) Zimmerman of Acme, Gary (Delia) Kellogg of Newbury Park, Calif., and Nancy (Steve) Bartlett of Petersburg; close friend and "son," Leon (Doris) Case of Gregory; 11 grandchildren, Deborah (Brian) Jones of Milford, Paul (Allisa) Zimmerman of Calabasas, Calif., Joyce (Steve) Wheatly of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Jenice (Steve) Smith of The Woodlands, Texas, Judy (Jeffrey Ludwig) Zimmerman of Glenview, Ill., Beth (Andrew) Schott of Thousand Oaks, Calif., John (Marcella) Zimmerman of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tara (Jeffrey) Hensley of Wayne, Thomas M. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beverly Kellogg; and five brothers, G. Robert Dixon, Murray, Herbert, Pfc. James and Paul Kellogg. Memorial services were held in Saline on Dec. 9, 2002. Darrell Wayne Wys Died December 10, 2002 CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Darrell Wayne Wys, 50, died Dec. 10, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday Dec. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Darrell is survived by a devoted family and a multitude of friends and loved ones including his wife, Connie Wys of Charlotte; his daughter, Renee Young and his son, Josh Clay both of Charlotte; his mother, Geneva Wys of Traverse City; and siblings Mr. Melvin Workman, Mrs. Barbara Maleski, Mrs. Sandra Reamer and Mrs. Beverly Schaub, all in the Traverse City area. He was also the beloved uncle of many nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Darrell was born in Bracken County Kentucky on Nov. 22, 1952, the son of the late Larry Wys of Florida and Geneva Wys of Traverse City. His family moved to Traverse City when he was a young boy and that is where he remained throughout most of his adult life. He moved to Charlotte in 1996 with his wife and children, and built a huge circle of friends. Darrell worked in construction from his teenage years to the present. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, sports of all kinds, cooking, camping, traveling, and scuba diving. Thank you to all of our great friends and neighbors for the love and support you have shown our family during this trying time. The family also wishes to thank the wonderful staff of doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital ICU. We know Darrell received the best possible care during his stay with you. A memorial service will be held for his Charlotte family of friends after the holidays. Details will follow. |
