BERG, 73, of Filer City, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at West Shore Medical Center.Visitation will take place, Thursday, Dec. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, with a VFW Auxiliary service at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee. CINDY KAY CALKINS, 46, of Grayling, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Grayling. Visitation will take place on Friday, Dec. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel, in Grayling. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home. CLARE 'JAY' MILLER, 69, of Grayling, formerly of Hemlock, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Grayling. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel, where visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Grayling. MARGARET A. MULL, 78, of Central Lake and Destin, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in Destin. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. PETER R. SECOND, 76, of Elk Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. GLENN A. SMITH, 80, of Grayling, died at home Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel, where visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton. PHOTO Nellie E. Frye Died December 22, 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - Nellie E. Frye, 94, of Traverse City, formerly of Eastport, died Sunday evening at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Born April 17, 1908, in Van Wert, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harry and Katherine (Edwards) Lewis. On Dec. 8, 1926, in Detroit, she married James Warren Frye, who preceded her in death. A longtime resident of Traverse City, Nellie worked in retail sales most of her adult life. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Central United Methodist Church. Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her two sons, Robert Frye of Grand Rapids and James (Inez) Frye of Kewadin; son-in-law, John S. King of Traverse City; sister-in-law, Marion Frye of Atwood, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia King; and two sisters, Marguerite Bell and Wilma Hoghe. Funeral services will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 26, at 1 p.m., where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Mellor of Calvary Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids will be officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions or to the charity of one's choice. Robert W. Culman Died December 18, 2002 IONIA - Robert W. Culman, 84, of Ionia, formerly of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Watrowski) Culman; two sons, Ron Culman of Ionia and Gary (Vicki) Culman of Lansing; a daughter, Charlene (Doug) Erridge of Ionia; and a brother, Gerald (Delores) Culman of Suttons Bay. |
