January 7, 2002ObituariesMrs. Ruth J. TabbererDied January 5, 2002 ALTO - Mrs. Ruth J. Tabberer, 89, of Alto, went to be with her Lord on Saturday. She is survived by her children, Fred and Linda Tabberer of Alto, Wayne and Dorothy Tabberer of Kingsley and her son-in-law, Al Thunell of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Harris; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise DeBoer, Joyce DeBoer, Laura Fausett, Flora Priester, Keith (EJ) Tabberer. Harry (Grace) Tabberer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom and a daughter, Mary Thunell. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Stroo Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Michael D. Funderburg officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley. Memorial contributions to the Kingsley Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are being handled by the Stroo Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. **PHOTO** **FLAG** Donald E. Warne Died January 5, 2002 WILLIAMSBURG - Donald E. Warne, 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Donald was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Monticello, Ind., the son of Ira L. and Emma (Hackett) Warne. He married the former Glenna J. Where on Oct. 27, 1945, in Flint. Donald served his country proudly during World War II, were he received the Purple Heart and an Oak Cluster. He was very active in archery, being a founding and lifetime member of Michigan Bow Hunters, also holding several state championships. In recent years his passions were Army reunions with the 2nd Infantry and the 5th Division, also bowling and the team's annual trip to Vegas. Donald is survived by two daughters, Donna (Dan) Krogel of Williamsburg and Kathy (Dennis) Smith; sister, Jeanne Hall of Arizona; grandchildren, Tim, Don, Dennis Jr., Jeff, Scott and David; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one very special friend Harriet (Sis) Howard. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenna; infant daughter, Janice; and several brothers and sisters. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Traverse City Eagles Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Munson Hospice or a charity of choice. Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home is serving the family. DOROTHY MAE HODGE, 57, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the time of service. The Rev. Father William Lipscomb will be officiating. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. A full obituary will appear in the next edition of the Record-Eagle. FRANK "SWEDE" ADAMSKI, 85, of Manistee, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility in Manistee. He was born on March 3, 1916, in Filer Township. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with an Evening Prayer at 8 p.m. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with burial following the funeral mass at Mt. Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. STANLEY SIDOR, 63, of Kingsley, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. HARLEY ANN CATHRINE HOSLER, was stillborn on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Munson Medical Center, daughter of Jack A. and Cathrine M. (Witherell) Hosler Jr. of Bellaire. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services. Agnes Harris Doty Died January 5, 2002 TORCH LAKE - Agnes Harris Doty, 93, of Torch Lake, joined her soul mate, Kayle, in a better place on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, from the Kalkaska Memorial Long Term Care. Agnes was born to Garry and Ida (Weidik) on Dec. 13, 1908, in Bath, Mich. A graduate of Bath High School and the Lansing Business University, she married Kayle Gilmore Doty on Dec. 9, 1932, and they shared 67 years together before Kayle's death on Oct. 16, 1999. After moving from Lansing to their home on Torch Lake in 1972, together, they owned and operated Doty's Antiques and Clock Shop at Shingle Shack on South Torch Lake for 30 years. Agnes was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and the Juniper Garden Club. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Doty Larson of Torch Lake, and Lois Doty Guccioni (John) of Godfrey, Ill.; her grandchildren, Malinda Larson Barr (David) of Haslett, Laura Larson Panganis (Steve) of Williamston, Erik Doty Larson (Kelly) of Haslett, Sara Benedix Baker (Ramey) of Collinsville, Ill. and Kayle Benedix of Godfrey, Ill.; and her great-grandchildren, Madelyn Jae Panganis, Megan Hunt and David Baker. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Harris; and a grandson, Mark Benedix. Memorial services will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kalkaska Memorial Long Term Care. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. |
