January 27, 2002ObituariesINTERLOCHEN - Richard H. Gonder, 70, of Interlochen, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home.Dick was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Interlochen, the son of Frank and Emma (Schroeder) Gonder. He married Mary Wilkinson on Feb. 1, 1953, in Hartford, Mich. Dick served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a life member of VFW Post 7493 in Interlochen, FAM Masons Lodge #466 of Mesick and a member of Lake Ann United Methodist Church. Dick was employed by American Greetings as a salesman for many years. Dick had lived in Interlochen since 1991, when he moved there from Bay City. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, boating, RV travels and auto racing, especially Nascar. Known as a conversationalist, he was also a member of the Parkinson's support group in Traverse City. Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Gonder of Interlochen; his daughter, Cindy (Ken) Orzechowski of Grand Rapids; his three sons, Daniel (Pamela) Gonder of Auburn, William (Marilyn) Gonder of Interlochen and Rick Gonder of Lancaster, Calif.; three sisters, Doris (Jack) Hoxie of Traverse City, Eleanor MacArthur of Chicago and Ruth (Bob) Stickney of New Buffalo, Mich.; sister-in-law, Shirley Gonder of Brooklyn, Mich.; and his 11 grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank; and a nephew, Kevin Stickney. Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Lake Ann United Methodist Church, with Pastor Charles Towersey officiating. Interment will be in the Inland Township Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lake Ann United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Parkinson's support group of Traverse City, or to VFW Post 7493 in Interlochen. HELEN GUILD, 85, of Central Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home. Arrangements by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. RICKY R. WADDELL, 40, of Central Lake, formerly of Flint, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Swartz Funeral Home in Flint. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, also at the Swartz Funeral Home. Arrangements were made by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. |
