Obituaries

INTERLOCHEN - Victor Adam Litke, 86, who had resided in Interlochen for the past 18 years, and was formerly of Rockford, died on Monday.
      He was born on Sept. 15, 1915, in Detroit, the son of Adolph and Emma (Reisner) Litke. On July 27, 1957, in Perry, he married the former Mary Fox.
      Victor worked as a machinist for the aerospace division of Vickers. Victor and his wife spent many enjoyable hours volunteering at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He also enjoyed archery, bowling, pairs skating, woodworking and arts and crafts of all types.
      He is survived by his wife, Mary of Interlochen; his two sons, Gerald (Coleen) Litke of Harrison, and Kerry (Linda) Litke of Port Huron; a sister, Lenore DeVos of Grosse Pointe Woods; a brother, Melvin Litke of Livonia; four grandchildren, Robert Adam, Jeffrey, Todd (Jennifer), and Laura Litke; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Olivia and Cameron Mark; a sister-in-law, Theresa Litke; and many nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Mark and John Litke; three brothers, Norman, Leonard, and Wilbert Litke; and infant twin sisters, Mary and Rose.
      A memorial service will be held at a later date.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Interlochen Center for the Arts Scholarship Fund, Friends of the Interlochen Library, or the Grand Traverse Area Parkinson Support Group.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
     
      LOUISE MARSH CHANDLER, 80, of Beulah, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, March 11, from The First Congregational Church of Benzonia, with the Rev. Stephen J. Davidson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Champion Hill Cemetery.
      Arrangements were handled by the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
     
      JAMES R. GLASER, 60, of Mancelona, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., Mancelona. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
     
      A memorial service for ESTHER ROMANOW, who died Jan. 25, 2002, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Pastor Larry Grooters will officiate.
     
      A memorial service will be held for JAMES WARREN VANALSTINE, 35, of Kingwood, Texas, and formerly of Traverse City, who passed away Feb. 11, 2002, following his battle with cancer.
      The service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1027 McRae Hill Road, Traverse City. Pastor Bill Geisel will be officiating.
     
      GEORGE FRANK WATT, 71, of Benzonia, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Floyd Soper officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
