Gertrude B. Moseler
      Died March 24, 2002
      ELBERTA - Gertrude B. Moseler, 82, of Elberta, died Sunday.
      She was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Elberta. Gertrude was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Gertrude B. (Schaeffer) Fitzhugh. She married Arthur Moseler of Arcadia on March 8, 1940.
      Gert was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Elberta United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was the co-owner of Joan's Restaurant in Elberta for about 10 years beginning in the late 1940s, and later was an employee of Pet Milk, where she retired in 1981.
      Gert was an avid lifelong Frankfort-Elberta High School sports fan that loved to cheer for her team and never missed an opportunity to attend an event. She also enjoyed gathering her family and friends at her home for an excellent homemade dinner and hours of conversation. Gert was very active with The Harbor View Senior Center and her group of close friends that met several times every week for card club, sporting events, good food, and conversation. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend that will be dearly missed by many.
      She is survived by three sons, Arthur (Joan) Moseler and Rick (Sherrie) Moseler, both of Frankfort and Jeff (Kayla) Moseler of Odessa, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Oakley Fitzhugh of Frankfort and Dale (Marion) Fitzhugh of Yuma, Ariz.
      Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur on March 4, 1984; sister, Rae Ferris; and brothers, Wayne, Edward, Lyle and Orlo Fitzhugh.
      Memorials services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2002, at the Elberta United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Boehm and Rev. Marvin Rosa officiating. Cremation has taken place and internment of ashes will be in the Gilmore Township Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Elberta United Methodist Church.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home.
     
      Stanley Leland Ball
      Died March 29, 2002
      FIFE LAKE - Stanley Leland Ball, 78, of Fife Lake, formerly of Bay City and Standish, passed away on Friday at his home.
      Stan was born June 7, 1923, in Spencer, the son of the late Grover and Gladys (Wheeler) Ball.
      Stan served his country on Okinawa during World War II. He married Ruby M. Battenfield on April 5, 1946, who survives him. Stan was retired from RWC in Bay City. Upon retirement, Stan and Ruby moved to Fife Lake where he enjoyed woodworking, and many, many hours working on The Triple F property. He was a member of the Walton Junction Sportsman's Club and the American Legion #0219.
      Surviving besides his loving wife of 56 years are two children; four granddaughters and their spouses, and three great-grandchildren: Kay and her husband, Bob Coggins of Canton, and their daughters, Melissa (Tim) Ellsworth of Northville, and Lori (Jim) Jacob, and their son, Christian of Canton; Richard and his wife, Kathryn of Bay City and their daughters, Lisa (Scott) MacGregor and their daughter, Morgan of Bay City; Jennifer (Tom) Verellen; and their son, Zachary of Auburn.
      A memorial service will be held on April 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Spencer Church of Christ with Pastor Mark McCool officiating. Burial will be in the Springfield Township Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake.
      Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider (in lieu of flowers) Munson Hospice & Palliative Care in Traverse City.
      Arrangements are being handled by the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
     
      Harold James Diehl
      Died March 29, 2002
      TRAVERSE CITY - Harold James Diehl, 75, of Traverse City, died on Thursday in Sebring, Fla.
      Harold was born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Maple City, the son of Percy and Albena Diehl. On May 4, 1963, he married Thelma Bush.
      After growing up in the area, Harold joined the military and served in both the Army and Navy. He retired from Teletype Ind. (AT&T) in Chicago in 1981 and moved back to Traverse City where he and Thelma resided at King's Court Park. Harold's favorite past time was attending area auctions.
      Harold is survived by his wife, Thelma; his two brothers, Jim (Laura) Diehl and Fred (Marion) Diehl; his sister, Naomi (Elvin) Pike; and several nephews and nieces.
      Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Bright; and his brothers, Donald and David Diehl.
      Graveside services will be held at a later date.
     
      R. J. SNIFF
      Died March 28, 2002
      TRAVERSE CITY - R.J. Sniff, 87, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Bayonette Point Hospital in Hudson, Fla.
      He was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Traverse City, the son of Charles and Ede Sniff. In 1935, he married the former Dorothy Kreiser.
      A life resident of the area, R.J. had been an independent truck driver prior to his retirement, and for about 10 years owned and operated a motel in the U.P. prior to returning to Traverse City. He was a member of the Eagles, enjoyed carpentry, enjoyed his trips to Florida, and enjoyed dog and horse races, but really was an avid baseball fan. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
      Surviving is his son Bob and his wife Linda of Traverse City; his grandsons, Eric and his wife Cindy and Randall, all of Traverse City; a great-grandson, Austin, and a great-granddaughter, expected to arrive any day. Also surviving are his three step-grandchildren, Mike, Jason and Erin Wilson, all of Traverse City; son-in-law, Richard Hesse of East Lansing; sisters, Barbara Vondrasek of Bath, Pauline Klumpp of Remus, a brother, Leslie of Colorado, six nieces and 13 nephews.
      R.J. was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Charlene Hesse; his son, Lonnie; his parents; sisters, Zola Sniff and Fayvella McClish; and by his brothers, Archie and Paul.
      Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with Father Pat Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society.
     
      NATALIZIO DeGIULI, 80, of Bellaire, formerly of Southgate, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire.

      MARGARET (WILSON) WITTIG, 86, of Traverse City, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      A full obituary will run at a later date.

      KIMBERLY J. McCORQUODALE, 42, of Sana Rosa Beach, Fla., and formerly of Kingsley, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Florida.
      Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley.
     
      WILFORD HERMAN GAUTHIER, 72, of Traverse City, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at his home.
      A memorial service is being held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, at Fellowship Church in Traverse City. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Solon Cemetery.
