      Died November 2, 2002
      TRAVERSE CITY - Michael Joseph Mahar went into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002.
      He was born April 19, 1999, to Patrick Aaron and Carol Ann (Beaulieu) Mahar.
      Michael was a strong little boy, dealing with Myotonic Dystrophy for the past 3½ years. He had beautiful blue eyes, and loved music and especially chocolate.
      Other survivors include his sister and brother, Malissa and Joseph of Mt. Morris; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Patsy Mahar of Lake Leelanau; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
      Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Beaulieu.
      Friends may call at St. Patrick Catholic Church today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
      Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. Jerry Micketti serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Mass Intentions or to the family in care of Patrick Mahar.
      The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      CECELIA J. MAUE, 99, of Free Soil, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Oakview Medical Center in Ludington.
      Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where a rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.
      Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at St. Jon Cantius Catholic Church in Free Soil. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
     
      LEONA M. SPENCER, 77, of Ellsworth, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
      Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the funeral home.
      John C. Ohst
      Died November 3, 2002
      UTICA - John C. Ohst, 89, of Utica, died Sunday, Nov. 3, at Shelby Nursing Center in Shelby Township.
      He was born in Manistee on Feb. 6, 1913, the son of John W. and Emma H. (Koppit) Ohst. On Sept. 28, 1940, he married Irma M. Kluge in Detroit. She preceded him in death on May 19, 1988.
      John was a retired pharmacist, having worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals, both East and West. He previously worked for Witzke Drug Store in Utica, Gell Drug Store in Utica and Jamison Pharmaceuticals in Detroit. He graduated from the Ferris Institute and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica.
      He is survived by his brother, Arnold Ohst of Lansing; sister, Elinor Bachmann of McBain; nieces and nephews, Philip (Debra) Lange of Brighton, Alan Ohst of Palo Alto, Calif., Janet Lange-Stumpf of Okemos, and Brenda Bachmann of Elkhart, Ind.
      In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Ohst; two sisters, Ruth Lange and Mildred Ohst; and two nephews, David Bachmann and Daniel Kluge.
      Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Diener Funeral Home, 48271 Van Dyke, Utica.
      Religious services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke, Utica. The Rev. Mark Hill will officiate. Interment will be in Utica Cemetery.
      The family suggests contributions in John's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association.
