LOUISE J. BRASTROM, 72, of Manistee, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at her home.
      Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
      The family is being served by the Oak Grove Cremation Center in Manistee.
      BARBARA JANE CORCORAN, 74, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.
      Cremation has taken place.
      A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church.
      Arrangement were handled by the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
      JAMES L. FRAIN, 67, of Manistee, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at his home.
      Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Edwards Oak Grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday.
      The family is being served by the Edwards Oak Grove Funeral Home, Bear Lake.
      ILA MAE HANEL, 77, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.
      Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Benzonia First Congregational Church.
      A complete obituary will appear in the Monday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
      JOAN N. KNIGHT, 70, of Rapid City, died early Friday morning, Nov. 8, 2002, at her home.
      There will be no visitation.
      Private services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
      WARREN HAROLD PUTNEY, 78, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      A celebration of his life will be held at cherry blossom time in the spring of 2003.

      William C. Barber Sr.
      Died November 8, 2002
      SOUTH BOARDMAN - William Clayton Barber Sr., died on Friday, Nov. 8, at the home of his son, James.
      Bill was born on June 27, 1915, to Howard and Elizabeth (Peck) Barber in Rapid City.
      Bill was proud of the 35 years he spent at Reynolds Metals and of the 60 years he was a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge. In life, Bill was a sportsman with a passion for golf and bowling.
      He is survived by his loving wife, Mae; and his eight children, Joan, Gail, Delmar, Sandra, James, Bonnie, William Jr. and Pamela; as well as his 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
      Memorial services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, with Pastor Howard Seaver officiating.
      Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today and continue until the service begins.

      Died November 7, 2002
      EAST JORDAN - Virginia "Ginny" Burley, 78, of East Jordan, and formerly of Traverse City, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
      She was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Shelbyville, Ind., to Ralph and Minerva (Johnson) Wasson. Ginny married James J. Burley on June 20, 1959, in Traverse City.
      Ginny was the founder of the Flap-Jack Family Restaurants with a chain of 14 restaurants at one time. She was a mentor and helped many restaurant owners in the area get started. She was a member of the National Restaurant Association and the Michigan Restaurant Association. Ginny also was the third owner of Sleder's Restaurant before starting the Flap-Jack Restaurants. She was a well known business woman in the area.
      She enjoyed cooking and working in the restaurant and while raising her three sons, she attended night school to get her accounting degree.
      Ginny is survived by her husband of 43 years, James J. Burley of East Jordan; two sons, Joe (Sherry) Bender of East Jordan, and James (Mildred) Bender of Traverse City; numerous grandchildren; her brother, Ralph "Bud" (Eleanor) Wasson of Dewitt; special nephew, Rick Ericson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Bender; and her three sisters, Rosamand Bliss, Mary Wilde, and Betty Ericson.
      Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home, with Fr. James Hayden officiating. Interment will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or to a charity of your choice.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      Marjorie Ann Kern
      Died November 7, 2002
      INTERLOCHEN - Marjorie Ann Kern, 77, of Interlochen, and formerly of Saginaw, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
      She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Saginaw, to Lloyd and Gertrude (Grandy) Johnstin. On Sept. 29, 1951, Marjorie married Marvin A. Kern in Saginaw. She lived in Saginaw for 70 years before moving to Interlochen. She was a past member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Saginaw and a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen.
      Surviving Marjorie are her son, Mark Allen (Doreen) Kern of Interlochen; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha Kern of Interlochen; her sister, Dorothy Moldenhauer of Avon Lake, Ohio; two brothers, Lloyd (Janet) Johnstin of Lansing, and Lee (Barb) Johnstin of Frankenmuth; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley Kern, Elmer (Mary) Kern, Roy (Luella) Luplow, Marian Reinert, and Ken (Sandy) Schlaefke; and many other loving family members and friends.
      Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on June 16, 1996; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Kern and Elmer Reinert.
      Friends are welcome to visit with the family from noon to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 Midland Rd., Saginaw.
      Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3829 Lamson, Saginaw. Pastor James Balzer will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Saginaw or of Interlochen.

      **FLAG** Dale E. Minick
      Died October 31, 2002
      RAPID CITY - Dale E. Minick, 67, of Rapid City, passed away Thursday, October 31, at Munson Medical Center in the presence of his family.
      He was born in Willis, on Dec. 3, 1934, to Ormund and Eleanor (Elka) Minick. Dale attended Cleary College where he met and later married Katherine Morris. Together they continued to live in Willis until 1966, when they fulfilled a dream by moving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They remained there until 1971 when they moved to Rapid City.
      Dale was the founder of Sugar Camp Incorporated. His passion was photography, particularly that of fine art and nature.
      Dale is survived by his wife, Katherine; his children, Rebekah (Dan) Erving of Buckley, Colleen (Larry) Koper of Waterford, Mark Minick of Rapid City, and Matthew (Keli) Minick of Traverse City; his brother Merlyn (Audrey) Minick of Milan; and grandchildren Sarah (Paul) Wilcoxen, Joanne Erving, Edward Minick, Joel and Amanda Koper, and Katie Vieracker.
      He was preceded in death by is parents.
      Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m., at the Little Red School House on River Street in Rapid City, where friends may call at the time of the service. The Rev. Donald McCash will be officiating.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association.

      **FLAG** Frank Joseph Semer
      Died November 8, 2002
      TRAVERSE CITY - Frank Joseph Semer, 79, of Traverse City, died early Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Munson Medical Center.
      He was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Martin and Catherine (Rogalny) Semer. His parents, two infant sisters and five brothers preceded him in death. Frank was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army as an aerial photographer. On Sept. 13, 1947, he married Wanda Lawrynowicz in Detroit.
      Frank had resided in Traverse City for the past seven years, moving from his longtime residence in Dearborn Heights. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1988, where he worked as a research analyst. He spent his winters in Bradenton, Fla.
      Frank's greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. An avid golfer, he also loved the outdoors, gardening and debating current events. He was an independent thinker with strong personal values. Frank quietly contributed to numerous noble causes.
      Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Semer; five children, James Semer of Alachua, Fla., Gail Semer of New York and Michigan, Gary (Cathy) Semer of Plymouth, Kevin (Julie) Semer of Harrison Township, and Eric Semer of Southfield; seven grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Jordan, Adelle (children of Gary and Mary Gadbaw Davis); and Kristen (Gary and Cathy) and Joel and Janelle (children of Kevin and Julie).
      A private family memorial is planned for Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002.

      **FLAG** Glen M. Sieting
      Died November 9, 2002
      SOUTH BOARDMAN - Glen M. Sieting, 78, of South Boardman, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at his home.
      He was born on Nov. 23, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Earl and Celia (Smith) Sieting. Glen was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country during World War II as a medic in the 316 station hospital. He married Genevieve "Gen" Gauthier on Jan. 14, 1961, in Union Lake.
      Glen was a building contractor in South Lyon for 27 years. He and Gen moved to South Boardman in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
      Glen is survived by his loving family including his wife of 41 years, Gen; his children, Charles J. (Deborah) Sieting of South Boardman, Jacqueline (Frank) Rutherford of Traverse City, Antoinette (Brian) Bohnet of Mancelona, Colette (Dennis) Hannon of Kalkaska, Glenn (Sandra) Sieting of South Boardman, Julie A. (Kevin) Wagenschutz of Kalkaska; and Jocelyn (Bill Greer) Witowski of South Boardman; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sister, Ada (Arnold) Childers of Ann Arbor; and his brother Keith (Dorothy) Sieting of Luzerne.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Carl Sieting in 1998.
      Visitation will be held today, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
      The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods in Kalkaska with the Rev. Dale Magoon officiating.
      Memorial contributions may be given in behalf of Glen Sieting to the Right to Life in Grand Traverse County.

      Died November 7, 2002
      TRAVERSE CITY - Amy Bea Zuniga, 13, of Florida, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in Grand Rapids.
      Amy was born Feb. 16, 1989, in Avon Park, Fla., to Steven and Annette (Garza) Zuniga. She was a student in the eight grade at East Junior High School and attended First Baptist Church with her family.
      Amy enjoyed singing, swimming, riding roller coasters, talking on the phone, going to movies, shopping with her sister at Rave, wrestling with her dad and riding "slingshot" in Kissimmee, Fla., but most of all she loved angels and spending time with her family.
      She is survived by her parents Steve and Annette Zuniga of Florida; two sisters, Stephanie and Danielle, and her brother, Steven Tyler all at home; grandparents, Margie and Roy Solis of Traverse City, and Manuel and Beatrice Zuniga of Florida; great-grandparents, Moses and Francisca Ruiz of Florida; godparents, Nick and Trisha Garza of Florida; aunts and uncles, Angie and Shawn Wolf, Tommy Garza, Domingo and Jennifer Garza, and Emily Solis all of Traverse City, Betty Ysasi, Thomas Zuniga and Doncio and Susan Zuniga all of Florida, B.B. and Rosemary Garza of Interlochen and Manuel Zuniga Jr. of North Carolina. Amy is also survived by her cousins, Stella, Junior and Abel Garza of Interlochen, Mayda and Alex Garza, Shawn Jr. and Alyssa Wolf, and Adrianna and Latrial Garza all of Traverse City, Korrina and Nick Garza Jr., and Eve, Herlinda, David Jr. and Elizabeth Ysasi, Amanda and Thomas Zuniga Jr., and Joshua and Alexis Zuniga all of Florida.
      Amy was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Anita Cardon; her uncle, Daniel Zuniga; cousin, David Garza; and her great-aunt, Pam Morales.
      A celebration of Amy's life will be held today, Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 244 Washington St., Traverse City, with Pastor Tom Mansfield officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
