November 17, 2002ObituariesGAYLORD - Elsie A. Wizinsky, 85, of Gaylord, and formerly of Clawson, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at McReynolds Hall in Gaylord.She was born July 18, 1917, in Detroit, and lived most of her life in the Detroit area. On May 18, 1935, she married Jerome Weiss, and they began raising a family. After the death of her husband, Elsie married Robert Wizinsky on June 1, 1951, and they continued to raise their family. She had been a resident of Gaylord for the past six and a half years. Elsie was an avid gardener, a homemaker, enjoyed reading and loved her family very much. Elsie is survived by four children, Jim (Ann) Weiss of Troy, Mary Ellen (Ray) Dennis of Carmel, Ind., Ann (Michael) Zipser of Northport, and Rob Wizinsky of Gaylord; and 11 grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Weiss, her husband, Robert Wizinsky in 1997; her daughter, Susan Weiss, her son, Dennis Weiss; and her sister, Clara Swejkoski. Visitation will be held today, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, with a Parish Wake Service at 6 p.m. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, with the Rev. John McCracken serving as celebrant. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Monday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord. MAPLE CITY - Lily Anna Scanlon, infant daughter of Scott and Lesley Scanlon and sister of Riley Scanlon, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002. Lily is the granddaughter of Virgil and Virginia Goodrick of Empire, Sharon Scanlon of Maple City, and Dick Scanlon of Traverse City. Lily's great-grandparents are Dick and Joyce Scanlon of Florida. Lily has many aunts, uncles and cousins that will also miss her dearly. Lily lived a short life with us and will be deeply missed forever. She is our flower that never had a chance to bloom. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. CHELSEA - Howard P. Gragg, 88, of Chelsea, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Silver Meadows in Chelsea. He was born Jan. 3, 1914, in Kalkaska, the son of George and Pearl (Frye) Gragg. Howard was a member of Ypsilanti United Methodist Church, and was Ypsilanti assistant fire chief for more than 30 years. He enjoyed wood carving and making furniture. Surviving are his wife, LaNue Gragg of Chelsea; his stepdaughter, Viatt Love of Grand Rapids; LaNue's children, Kathleen (Michael) Cross of Chelsea, Florence (James) Collins of Chelsea, Michael Kelly of Minnesota, and Patrick Kelly of Bryan, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Gragg; and also his first and second wives, Marie and Vivian. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main St., Chelsea. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home with Kathy Batell, chaplain of Chelsea Community Hospital, officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Silver Maples Employee Appreciation Fund. Arrangements by the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. SUTTONS BAY - Ivan Robert "Bob" Livingston, 74, of Suttons Bay, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. He was born on the family homestead in Bingham Township on March 28, 1928, to Ivan C. and Mary A. (Rader) Livingston. Bob attended Donny Brook School and Suttons Bay Schools and lived his entire life on the land he loved. During the Korean War, from 1955 to 1957, he served his country honorably as a corporal in the U.S. Army. Bob was a very likable guy who loved to visit with everyone. He was a hard worker and a lifelong fruit grower who enjoyed the life of being on the farm. He also worked for both the Leland Flush Door Company and Frigid Foods in Suttons Bay. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, attending auction sales and playing euchre. Bob is survived by two sisters, A. Kathleen Livingston and Helena (Edward) Send, both of Suttons Bay; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Livingston of Suttons Bay; two nieces, Lori (Ken) Pease and Kayla Livingston; four nephews, Edward R. (Denise) Send, Mark (Esther) Send, Michael Livingston and Allen Livingston; three grandnieces, Kelly and Trisha Send, and Kelsey Pease; and two grandnephews, Andrew Send and Jason Pease. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Irvin Livingston in 1981. Friends may call at Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay today from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 18, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne A. Price officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Keswick. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Suttons Bay/Bingham Township Fire and Rescue Department. Arrangements by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. ROBERT ALLEN BEAL, 60, of Thompsonville, died Saturday Nov. 16, 2002, in Interlochen. Memorial services are being planned for the spring of 2003. ROBERT RANDALL BOURNE, 87, owner and operator of Bourne's on Lake Michigan in Glen Arbor and Spence House Antiques of Benzonia, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, in Frankfort. Memorial services for Robert will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the First Congregational Church UCC, 900 Barber, in Benzonia. The Rev. Telfer Mook will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of services. Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Edwards Oak Grove Funeral Home of Bear Lake is handling arrangements. BARBARA K. BROWNING, 52, of Frankfort, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. LESLEY ANN MCCARTHY, 46, of Lake Leelanau, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Arrangements are pending at Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. DALE E. MINICK, 67, of Rapid City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Little Red School House on River Street in Rapid City, where friends may call at the time of the service. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. CURTIS FARISH SPICER, 73, of Mancelona, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona. DONALD SUMMERFIELD, 73, formerly of Mancelona, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at the Kalamazoo Long-term Care Facility in Kalamazoo.
