JAY WILLIAM LEATHERMAN, 44, of Bear Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at his residence. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Bear Lake Township Cemetery. The Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva is in charge of arrangements. ESTHER PREUSS, 81, of Manistee, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Tendercare of Manistee. The family will receive friends at the Johnson Funeral Home of Manistee on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee. DOROTHY F. STURK, 84, of Cedar, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2002. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Lesley Ann McCarthy Died November 16, 2002 LAKE LEELANAU - Lesley Ann McCarthy, 46, of Lake Leelanau, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on March 19, 1956, Lesley was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (McCan) McCarthy. On Jan. 15, 1993, she married Linus Couturier in Traverse City. Lesley's love of lakes, woods, nature and family brought her to live in Lake Leelanau in the early 1990s. In 1993 she married her soul mate, Linus Couturier, and raised her beloved daughter, Ashley, born in 1994. Lesley enjoyed the beauty of Northern Michigan, living on Little Brook Farm, and being near her family. Lesley was artistically inclined, and enjoyed drawing and music. She loved traditional Irish music and was an avid participant in the annual Wheatland Music Festival in Remus. Lesley's creativity provided her the inspiration to pen a book for children called "Out and About on Little Brook Farm." Lesley enjoyed traveling, camping and living life to its fullest. Trips included the American West, Ireland and Italy. Lesley was a graduate of the 1974 class of Birmingham Seaholm High School. She later earned associate's degrees at Oakland Community College and Northern Michigan College. She worked for many years in the banking industry and pursued the paralegal profession. Lesley showed incredible strength and courage during her eight-year battle with cancer. Lesley's vibrant life was a testament to her beauty and character, and her love and sense of humor will be remembered and missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Linus Couturier; daughter, Ashley, at home; three brothers, Mike McCarthy of Birmingham, Dan (Amy) McCarthy and their children Brody, Mitchell, Hayden and Lily of Grand Rapids, and Pat (Lou Ann) McCarthy and their children Colleen and Dellen of Davisburg; and her parents, Charles and Dorothy McCarthy. Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Leelanau, with Rev. James Gardiner officiating. A celebration of Lesley's life will continue after the services at Little Brook Farm. |
