November 22, 2002ObituariesROCHESTER - Dr. James I Arcure, 82, of Rochester, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills.He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Owosso. Jim graduated from Owosso High School in 1937, and attended the University of Michigan until 1940, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He served as a flying instructor until 1944, when he flew B-24 submarine patrols in England and the Azores. Jim earned his degree as doctor of dental surgery from the University of Michigan in 1950, and was a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. He practiced dentistry in Rochester from 1950 to 1985, during which time he served as president of the Oakland County Dental Society. He spent a great deal of time golfing, boating, woodworking and making jewelry at his retirement home in Central Lake. Jim was the husband of Priscilla Kennedy Arcure since June 27, 1942; the father of Angela (Mark) Calice of Troy and Patricia (Mark) Lyon of Rochester; and the grandfather of Dana, Ben, Anne Marie, Katherine and Martine. Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., in Rochester. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Lake Historical Society, 7378 W. Old State Rd., Central Lake, MI 49622. BOON - James Eugene Boros Sr., 89, of Boon, passed away at home Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002. He was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Bedford, Ohio, to Emory and Julia (Gacs) Borosh. Jim married Dorthey L. Laizure on Jan. 16, 1936, at the Church of Christ in Cadillac. Jim retired as purchasing agent after 30 years of employment with the Wexford County Road Commission. He had also worked for the State of Michigan for 10 years, surveying and doing road work. Jim farmed his own farm and enjoyed working on cars and machinery. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim was a member of Boon Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. He served on the Boon Township Board, was a member of and past president of both the PTA and AFL. Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorthey Boros of Boon; his son, James (Marilyn) Boros Jr. of Boon; his daughters, Sharon Andersen and Joyce Dormer, both of Traverse City; his three grandchildren, Brian Boros of Boon, Janeen (Bill) Westrick of Royal Oak and Melissa (Jason) Warren of Traverse City; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Jaren Warren of Traverse City; and his sister, Goldie Burkhart of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Julia Coleman. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hitesman Funeral Home in Cadillac. Services will be conducted Monday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. at Boon Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton C. Burritt officiating. Burial will take place in Boon Westside Cemetery. Arrangements by Hitesman Funeral Home, Cadillac. JOSEPH F. CAVITCH, 78, of Traverse City, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. EDWARD A. DALZELL JR., 86, formerly of Traverse City, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in St. Petersburg, Fla. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. EITZEN, 80, of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Tendercare of Traverse City. Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. A complete obituary will appear in the Saturday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle. The Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes is entrusted with the arrangements. IRENE ESTLEMAN, 94, of Grayling, and formerly of Whitmore Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002. Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel in Grayling. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Township Cemetery. Arrangements by Sorenson Funeral Home, Grayling. LLOYD WILLIAM HIGDON, 61, of Manistee, died Sunday evening, Nov. 17, 2002. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Oak Grove Cremation Center in Manistee and the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. CHERYL Y. IMBRUNONE, 53, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at her home. Private services have been held. Arrangements by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. BEULAH - Gary Ellis Gray, 61, of Beulah, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002. Gray is survived by his wife, Suzanne Gray of Beulah; daughters, Cara (Brad) Chicky of Honor and Heather (Jeff) Wickman of Livonia; his father, Elmer W. Gray of Clearwater, Fla.; and his sister, Lynne C. Ryan of Northville. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, at the Frankfort First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dinah Haag officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crystal Lake Watershed or the Friends of the Betsie Valley Trails.
