October 23, 2002Obituaries**FLAG** Michael F. MoynaDied October 17, 2002 SEMINOLE, Fla. - Michael F. Moyna, 80, of Seminole, Fla., and formerly of Elberta, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Bay Pines VA Medical Center Hospital. Born on May 28, 1922, in Elberta, Mike was the son of Earl and Fern Moyna. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in Africa and Italy as a ground crew member for B-24 bombers. Mike moved to Florida in 1960, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, Fla. He held memberships in the Holiday Isles VFW Post #4256, Holiday Isles BPOE #1912 and the American Legion Post #273 all in Maderia Beach, Fla. Mike was a founding member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and had been paralyzed for 56 years. Mike is survived by his three sisters, Margaret DeMeza of Clearwater, Fla., Earlene Mark of Dearborn, and Madelyn Hosek of Bowling Green, Ky., his two brothers, William of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Patrick of Copperas Cove, Texas; 19 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, from St. Ann Catholic Church, with Father Ray Cotter serving as celebrant. Interment will be in Gilmore Township Cemetery following the Mass. Arrangements are being handled by the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes. **PHOTO** **FLAG** Germain Joseph Belanger Died October 21, 2002 LAKE LEELANAU - Germain Joseph Belanger, 84, of Lake Leelanau, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City. He was born in Lake Leelanau on June 20, 1918, to Jerry and Philomena (LaCross) Belanger. In 1937, at St. Mary's Church in Lake Leelanau, Germain married the former Dorothy Alice Denoyer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of the VFW. Germain worked as a brick layer for a time and later went to work as a machinist for Cone Drive Gear, where he retired after 17 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau. Germain also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Germain is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Belanger; eight children, Linus (Marcie) Belanger, Jean Markham, Bill (Sandra) Belanger, Phyllis (Bob) Drow, Jackie (William) Pertner, Linda (Don) Morton, Sue (Stan) Allington, and Donna (Danny) Hughes; two brothers, Elmer (Elsie) Belanger, and Joseph (Violet) Belanger; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Belanger, Mary Lou Belanger, and Geraldine Belanger; 29 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hilda Kales, and his brothers, Robert, Abraham, Albert, Wallen and Leonard Belanger. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, where a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau, with the Rev. Arrangements by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. Elsie McFall Robinson Weaver Died October 21, 2002 ACME - Elsie McFall Robinson Weaver, 96, of Acme, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2002. She was born Nov. 19, 1905, in Auburn, N.Y., to Eugene and Grace McFall. Elsie moved to Acme in August of 1996 from her home in Englewood, Fla., where she was a homemaker and a member of the Englewood Methodist Church. Elsie leaves behind her husband, Peter James Weaver; two daughters, Barbara J. Lawrence of Williamsburg and Karen G. Davidson of Traverse City, and three sons, Frederick E. Robinson of Liverpool, N.Y., Peter J. Weaver of LeRoy, N.Y., and Richard J. Weaver of Franklin, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard G. Robinson of Cato, N.Y. There will be a memorial service at the Hope Village at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Rose, N.Y. Kuerth Died October 20, 2002 INTERLOCHEN - Myrtle E. Kuerth, 60, of Interlochen, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. She was born in Bendon on May 4, 1942, the daughter of John A. and Sarah (Hall) Sikorski. On Sept. 14, 1963, she married Bernard P. Kuerth in Traverse City. Myrtle was a homemaker who very much loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Bernie; son, Kenneth John Kuerth of Interlochen; daughters, Tina Marie (Craig) Shattuck of Kingsley and Laura (Gary) Verheek of Manistee; grandchildren, Amanda and Justin Shattuck, and Christine, Ashley, Matthew and Jennifer Verheek; her brothers, John Sikorski Jr. of Interlochen, Roland Sikorski of Grand Rapids and William Sikorski of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and her sisters, Edna Rineard of Holton, Sandra Witkop of Interlochen, Shirley Witkop of Interlochen, Nancy Bower of Interlochen, Barbara Kleeman of Cadillac and Phyllis Snyder of Eastlake. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Timothy Allen; her brothers, Michael and Fred Sikorski; and her sisters, Velma Witkop, Betty Jane Remeta and Kathleen Collingwood; and her parents.
