BRAND, 83, of Alden, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, with visitation one hour prior to the services on Monday. Interment will be in the Westwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. EDITH A. DZEMSKE, 97, of Wautoma, Wis., died at The Maples in Frankfort on Oct. 3, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Beulah. The family was served by the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes. THEODORE 'TED' FELICZAK, 64, of Manistee, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. An Evening Prayer Service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. ANNA EDWINA RITSEMA, 102, of Northport, and formerly of Sebewaing, Mich. and Naperville, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in Northport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Trinity Church in Northport, with the Rev. William Belko officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Sebewaing. Visitation will take place at the church Monday beginning at 9 a.m. and will continue until the time of the services. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. JEANNE SCHNEIDER, 51, of Frankfort, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at the home of her parents. The Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes is serving the family. KENNETH H. VASOLD, 78, of Eastport, died Thursday morning, Oct. 24, 2002, at Munson Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A full obituary will appear in the Sunday edition of the Traverse City Record-Eagle. RAPID CITY - Walter T. Merillat, 78, of Rapid City, went to be with the Lord Oct. 24, 2002. Walt was the son of Floyd and Ada (Saunders) Merillat. He served with the rank of corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945. On March 18, 1961, in Ypsilanti, he married Alzora Kooistra. He was a member of the Bayview Wesleyan Church. Walt deeply loved God, his wife, his family and friends. He was a lifelong fruit farmer who enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and bird watching. He especially liked spending time with his five grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Walt is survived by his wife, Alzora; sons, Daniel (Pada) Merillat of Dayton, Ohio, and Joseph (Bonnie) Merillat of Rapid City, and his daughter, Ellen Merillat of Traverse City; five grandchildren, Kaelyn, Karin, Samuel, Kevin and Benjamin; brothers, Carl (Dorothy), Floyd Jr. (Marcia), and Stuart (Carol) all of Elk Rapids, and Estle of Plymouth; his sister, Vivian (Frank) Walewski of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ada Merillat; sisters, Grace (Clayton) Allen, Caroline (Bion) Gassman, Mytle (Carroll) Busey, Violet "Judy" Merillot; and brothers, Donald (Harriett) and Earl Merillat. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Bayview Wesleyan Church in Traverse City, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the services. Clergy officiating will include Walt's son, the Rev. Daniel Merillat, along with the Rev. Jack Steenbergh and the Rev. David Standfest. Full military honors will be provided under the auspices of the VFW Cherryland Post #2780 at a 3 p.m. graveside service at the South Milton Township Cemetery on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bayview Wesleyan Thailand Missions. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. |
