Obituaries

TRAVERSE CITY - Marian M. Fleshman, 85, of Traverse City, formerly of Roseville, died peacefully at home on Friday.
      Born Feb. 18, 1918, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of John T. and Lottie (Dietz) Haynes. On May 20, 1950, in Detroit, she married Robert C. Fleshman of Harbor Springs.
      Surviving are her sister, Roberta Smith of Florida; daughter, Janet Fleshman and her husband, John Snodgrass; and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kimberly Rose Snodgrass, all of Traverse City.
      Mrs. Fleshman was preceded in death by her husband, and by her brother, Virgil D. Haynes.
      Visitation will take place on Friday, April 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., and will continue on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
     
      FRANKFORT - Kathleen Kennett, 67, of Frankfort, formerly of Lincoln, R.I., died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort.
      Born in Frankfort on June 17, 1935, she was the daughter of Raymond and Hattie (Mosler) Johnson.
      Kathleen moved back to her hometown in 1998 after living 40 years in Rhode Island. She was a member of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church and Woonsocket OES, both in Rhode Island. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Kathleen's family was everything to her.
      On Nov. 8, 1953, in Frankfort, she married Franklin Kennett, who survives. Kathleen is also survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Denis) Lacombe of Lincoln, R.I., and Renee (Douglas) Gregory of Warwick, R.I.; four sons, David (Paulette) and Donald (Suzette), all of Burrillville, R.I., Douglas (Rachel) of North Smithfield, R.I., and Dale (Linda) of Bogalusa, La.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia (Mel) Wantz of Frankfort; a brother, Wilford (Mary) Johnson of East Lansing; a special aunt, Eleanor Beal of Frankfort; and a favorite cousin, Patricia (Merv) Boughman of Owosso.
      Her parents and a sister, Irene Wilson, preceded Kathleen in death.
      Cremation has taken place. Interment of her ashes will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, R.I.
      Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the following: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, or glaucoma research.
      The family was assisted by the Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes.
     
      TRAVERSE CITY - Janet Ann Burden, 51, has returned to the source of her brightness and passed peacefully into the great light beyond. She departed April 11, 2003 from Munson Medical Center, with family and friends close by.
      Jan was born in Traverse City on Nov. 28, 1951, the daughter of Robert and Roverta (McDaniel) Nantz.
      Jan and her husband, Pat, own and operate National Coatings, Inc. She was a member of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, the Associated Building Contractors and a member of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. A very charitable person, Jan and her husband enjoyed supporting many groups and organizations here at home and near their home in Wetmore, Colo. Jan enjoyed writing short stories, shopping trips, entertaining and traveling. She was an accomplished art appreciator and hobby painter herself. An avid reader, she enjoyed membership in many different book clubs.
      Jan will be missed by family and friends; yet those who knew her, know her brightness is with us still, an unquenchable light.
      Jan is survived by her husband, Patrick Burden, who she married June 2, 1995 in Traverse City; a son, Jeremy Majszak, a granddaughter, Sophia; her mother, Roverta Nantz; three sisters, Mary (E.C.) Boudjalis-King, Stella (Gerald) Brown, Sylvia "Kay" (Elton) Rice; a brother, James Nantz; a stepsister, Marilyn (William) Reynolds, a stepbrother, Robert Nantz; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and a great-grandniece and great-grandnephew.
      Jan was preceded in death by her father, Robert; her first husband, Wayne Majszak; and her baby son, Jacob Majszak.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 14, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
      Friends may call at the funeral home today from noon to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m.
      Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery following cremation.
      The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Father Fred Foundation or the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.
     
      Funeral services for LUCY A. KNIGHT DeNOYER will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 14, at St. Francis Catholic Church.
      Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m.
     
      WALLACE A. 'WALLY' HANSON, 83, of Traverse City, died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at his home.
      Service arrangements will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
