Home.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. ROBERT EDWARD LIVEZEY, 77, of Leland, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at his home. LLOYD WILLIAM LUCAS SR., 65, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Sparta, Mancelona and Traverse City, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. Private family services and burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 8, in Sparta. A full obituary will appear in Monday's Record-Eagle. WILLIAM BENNET MILLER, 52, of Manistee, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at his residence. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4, at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. NORTHPORT - Elizabeth Jo Wilson, of Savannah, Ga., died July 28, 2003, in Northport, from complications following a car accident in Savannah. Jo was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Belton, Texas, the daughter of Lola (Oda) and Davis Doyle. She attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College and graduated with a teaching degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas in 1933. In 1938, she married Leland Wilson. Jo was a teacher for 45 years, first in elementary school and later specializing in special education for orthopedically handicapped children and for children with learning disorders. She worked at several schools including the Capper Foundation in Topeka and the Central Kansas Co-op in Education in Salina. She also taught at the Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Jo lived in Wichita in the 1940s and in the Manhattan area from 1949 to 1957. From 1957 to 1981, she lived in Topeka, Lawrence and Salina, until her retirement from teaching. At the age of 67, she entered the Peace Corps. Jo served for three years in Tunisia, where she established an orphanage for handicapped children and then served for three years in Barbados, working with teachers and children in a school for handicapped children. Jo returned to Topeka in 1987, where she lived until 1994. Jo spent the last 10 years of her life in Savannah, Ga. In addition to her professional career and raising six children, Jo was active in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Topeka, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah and the American Association of University Women. She was a docent for the Telfair Museum in Savannah and a volunteer for the Owens-Thomas House. She played and taught piano and was an accomplished classical pianist. Jo was an adventurer and traveled the world extensively, always visiting art museums wherever she went. She was a friend to nearly everyone she encountered throughout her life. With Jo, it was easy to feel that you were a very important person. She had a great gift for seeing and communicating each person's best qualities. Jo took a special interest in everyone - not just in her life, but also in those who touched the lives of her family. Some of these people became "adopted" family members. Jo was also known for her remarkable memory for details about people, places and experiences, far beyond the ability of others much younger than she. Jo is survived by her brother, Jack Doyle of Savannah; six children, Dan Wilson of Felton, Calif., Karen Dunford of Savannah, Kathy Garthe of Northport, Sam Wilson of Midland, Chuck Wilson of Meriden, Kansas and Pat Wilson of Suttons Bay; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a nephew. Preceding Jo in death was her former husband, Leland Wilson, who died in 1984. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 21st and Sims streets, Topeka, Kansas; and at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 307 E. Harris in Savannah. Donations in Jo's memory may be made to the National Public Radio station of your choice. Local arrangements by Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. TRAVERSE CITY - LeRoy W. Krapohl, 65, of Traverse City went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. LeRoy was born in Cheboygan on Sept. 7, 1937, the son of LeRoy and Grace (Hall) Krapohl. He was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army. LeRoy, along with his son, Allan, and Doug Baumgardner, started Preferred Manufactured Home Brokers in 1994. He loved the Lord deeply and was a very involved member of Church of the Living God for 27 years. LeRoy had a heart for the Mexico Outreach Program, having traveled to Mexico many times. He also enjoyed collecting basketball cards, watching NASCAR races and collecting NASCAR cars. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Betty, whom he married on July 5, 1973, in Minneapolis; his children, Cindy (Neil) Bott, Pam (Fred) Lange and Roger Krapohl, all of Breckenridge, LeRoy Krapohl Jr. and Janet L. Krapohl of Thief River Falls, Minn., and Allan (Jennifer) Krapohl of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Bruce) Devereaux of Traverse City and Grace (Floyd) Rau of Bridgeport; a brother, Bob Rector of Fayetteville, N.C.; and his mother-in-law, Vera Woll of Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Church of the Living God, 1514 Birmley Rd., Traverse City, with Pastor Ted Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mexico Outreach Program, or to the Church of the Living God Building Fund. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. KALKASKA - Edna A. Hittle, 92, of Kalkaska passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2003, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center in Kalkaska. She was born Sept. 13, 1910, in Kalkaska, the daughter of Daniel and Mabel (Dean) Krepps. Edna married James Hittle on September 18, 1961, in Chicago, Ill. Edna is survived by her children, Gary (Sally) White of Fife Lake and Doreen Bennett of Belding; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, James; a daughter-in-law; one grandson; and her seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be today, Aug. 3, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Kuiper of Evergreen Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Lodi Cemetery. Memorials may be given in behalf of Edna to Kalkaska County Commission on Aging. Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Jack Allen Lautner, 51, sailed into heaven on Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Bonita Springs, Fla., where he lived the last 20 years. A native of Traverse City, he will be remembered for being a "Jack of all trades" and a master of many. Jack will also be remembered for his strong will to get his point across, his love of music, people, the water, nature and his many sayings, such as, "narrow minds walk narrow paths" and "if your mind is not your own, what is?" Jack's legacy lives on with his daughter, Julie Lautner, her husband Jerry Parrish, and their four daughters, Jayly, Jeslene, Jordyn and Juni. Surviving are his father, Merlin Lautner; sisters, Gayle (Dennis) Moore, Bonnie Way (Lautner); and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Gray) Lautner; and a brother, Anthony Lautner. Per Jack's wishes, a "party" in his memory will be held for all his friends and family. Please contact Julie for details. TRAVERSE CITY - George Bonebrake, 84, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at his home in Traverse City. He was born on Sept. 23, 1918, in Wexford County, to Audrey and Gertrude (Rennells) Bonebrake. On March 3, 1942, in Mesick, George married the former Margery Ellen Clark, who after 54 years of marriage, preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 1996. On Feb. 8, 1997, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Carmen Stevens-Johnston, after they were reunited at a school class reunion in 1996. George attended the Earl Elementary School and two years of high school in Mesick, graduating from Buckley High School in 1938. He was the first man drafted in Wexford County and served his country honorably with the United States Army. After George had completed his year of service and had his discharge papers in his hand, Pearl Harbor was bombed. He then served four years in Europe during World War II and was discharged on Sept. 23, 1945. George returned to the Muskegon area where he was employed as a building contractor and inspector for Muskegon Heights. He was a member of Grant United Methodist Church in Buckley and a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Muskegon. George also was a member of James E. Dillion #466 of Mesick, Scottish Rite Valley of Traverse City, and Sherman Chapter 198 Order of the Eastern Star in Mesick. George loved traveling around the United States in his motor home and wintering in Lakeland, Fla. George also loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, but his main focus in life was his family and a firm faith in God. George is survived by his wife, Carmen, of Traverse City; two daughters, Sherry (Jack) Harrington of Muskegon and Marilyn (Phil) Suchecki of Nunica; stepson, William (Joyce) Johnston of Beaverton; stepdaughter, Carlene (Tom) Jaroma of Traverse City; five grandchildren, Carey (Joe) Hebert, Jenifer (Vic) Martin, Mark (Alissa) Harrington, Lori (Rob) Borntreger and Robynn Suchecki; three stepgrandchildren, Mona Johnston, Eric (Chris) Johnston and Kristine Smith; five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Caleb, Gabrielle, Jolene and Kaylea; five step-great-grandchildren, Joe, Taylor, Ryan, Kyle and Trevor; a sister, Ethel Mae (Gene) Rowe of La Port, Texas; and brother and sister-in-law, Lyle (Sylvia) Clark of Escondido, Calif. George was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Bonebrake of Traverse City and Harold Bonebrake of Muskegon. Friends may call at Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon on Sunday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. TRAVERSE CITY - Mayvelle Langworthy, 85, of Traverse City died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mayvelle was born April 23, 1917, in Cadillac, the daughter of Silas and Gladys (Hall) Thompson. Mayvelle had formerly lived in the Ypsilanti area and had resided in Traverse City since 1976. On Aug. 4, 1934, in Evart, Mayvelle married Vernie Langworthy, who preceded her in death April 23, 1989. Mayvelle was a loving mother and grandmother, and a great homemaker who found hours of enjoyment in cooking and crocheting for her family. She also like to travel. Mayvelle attended First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City while living in the area. Mayvelle is survived by her five children, Arlene (Boyd) Hagaman of Kennesaw, Ga., Donald (Joan) Langworthy of Milan, Darla (Orman) Loney of Shepherd, Dean Langworthy of Jackson and Alan Langworthy of Traverse City; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Switzer of Gowen; and a brother, Phillip (Nancy) Thompson of Gowen. Mayvelle was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Hagaman; a great-grandson, Jeffery Henderson; four sisters, 10 brothers and two stepbrothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4, from First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City, with the Rev. Richard Rice officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, LeRoy. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes, and will continue at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Memorials may be directed to First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City. BENZONIA - Geraldine "Gerry" Smeltzer, 68, of Benzonia died suddenly at her home Thursday afternoon. Gerry was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Bloomfield Township, the daughter of Merle and Lenora (Carey) Darling. After her mother's death when Gerry was 3 years old, she was raised by her stepmother, Beatrice Gunn. Gerry graduated from Benzonia High School in 1953 and had been a resident of Benzonia for the past 65 years. She worked at the Benzonia post office for 27 years, serving as postmaster for eight years. She was a member of the Benzie Area OES #405 and the Michigan Farm Bureau. Gerry was a former 4-H Club leader for six years and a Cub Scout den mother for two years. She was the owner of Gerry's Queen Size Shop & Salon. On Nov. 25, 1972, in Benzonia, she married Lester "Bud" Smeltzer, who survives. Gerry is also survived by a son, Robert (Debra) Reed of Benzonia, three daughters, Vicki (Dayl) Harrison of Bloomfield, Sally (Henry) Johnson of Glen Allen, Alaska, and Sheri (Phil) McPherson of Benzonia; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Carol) Darling of Three Rivers; and a sister, Shirley (Phil) Haugen of Benzonia. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Beatrice Gunn; a brother, Leroy Darling; and a sister, Vivian Lynn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4, from the Benzonia Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Bob Larimer officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Following cremation, interment will follow in Joyfield Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Maples.
