TRAVERSE CITY - State health officials have yanked the licenses for two northern Michigan nurses, including one who tried to hire a hit man to kill her husband.
The Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Bureau of Health Services, suspended the license of registered nurse Diann Kubik, who pleaded guilty in March to a charge of solicitation of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
Kubik, 50, was a nurse at Tendercare, a Traverse City nursing home, when she asked a coworker to help her find a hit man to kill her husband.
Kubik was arrested by a Grand Traverse County Sheriff's deputy who was posing as a hit man after she gave the officer $500 and a map of her house.
Kubik was sentenced in April to serve three months in jail and placed on probation for five years.
Officials also suspended the license of registered nurse Sheila Arlene Dinger, also known as Sheila Pierce, of Thompsonville. She was suspended for failing to notify state officials of a felony conviction
Dinger pleaded guilty to a charge of false pretenses of $20,000 or more in January for defrauding her former employer, Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan in Ludington.
Dinger was contracted to work as an emergency room nurse and over-billed the hospital by $84,402 by submitting invoices for time she did not work. She falsified the invoices by signing her supervisor's name on the documents, according to state records
Dinger was sentenced in March to serve a one-year jail sentence, was placed on probation for 18 months and was ordered to repay the hospital.
